Be a good medium and no longer just a medium, it is what matters
With the clarity and the objectivity of always, Claudia Gelernter examines in the especial of present edition the subject mediumship, mediums and mental connection between the beings.
We have already seen in this magazine in numerous articles and interviews, the information that according to spirit teachings mediumship, ancient as terrestrial Humanity itself, is found in all religions everywhere and in all epochs.
Moses, as nobody denies, was a powerful medium and the Bible offers us numerous examples.
Muhammad, in successive trances, psychographed the surahs that make up the Koran.
Daniel, Elisha, and Stephen marked their presence in the world by means of patented phenomena that are not due to the most famous and well-endowed mediums of our time.
The point, however, as Allan Kardec rightly points out, is not to be a medium but to be a reliable and trustworthy mediator who places mediumship at the service of the good and progress of mankind, since that is its purpose.
We can not, after so many books and studies published around the subject, reduce the mediumship to a mere technical question, forgetful of the moral factor, inherent in good mediumistic practice.
Of course, from the point of view of the mechanism of communication, mediumship, in itself, is independent of the moral condition of the practitioner; however, from the point of view of spiritual assistance given to the mediator and the quality of mediumistic communication, the moral factor is and will always be a preponderant element.
The reason for this is explained easily.
Mediums with morality have the support of elevated Spirits. We refer here to the medium who rules his existence as an authentic good man, seeking to be a humble person, sincere, patient, persevering, kind, studious, hardworking and disinterested.
It is in this sense the teaching given to us by Allan Kardec: "No one can become a good medium if he can not get rid of the vices that degrade humanity." (Spirit Magazine, 1863, 213)
Emmanuel was therefore inspired when wrote in one of his works that the first need of a medium is to evangelize himself before he indulges in the great doctrinal tasks, thereby avoiding the danger of running into the ghost of the personalism and, thus, impair the fulfillment of his mission.
For all the above, those who are dedicated to the task of mediumship and those who begin in this important ministry, it will never be too much to remember and spread the following warning that Allan Kardec, the codifier of the Spirit Doctrine, bequeathed to us:
"Every man can become a medium; but the question is not to be a medium; it is to be a good medium, which depends on moral qualities."(Spirit Magazine, 1863, p. 213) |
