In all coherence is fundamental

Weeks ago, in a weekly Brazilian magazine of great prestige in our country, we came across two subjects, almost side by side, focusing on two topics of great news and relevance. The first was about abortion and its disastrous consequences; the second, suicide and its increasing incidence among young people.

There is among the two themes a common element that is life, a precious possession that must always be preserved and defended.

In the evolutionary process of the soul, experience in the transient body is fundamental. Without reincarnation, the soul does not progress and the planet we live in is relegated to stagnation.

The suicide of a young person excludes it from the process, momentarily interrupting its evolutionary cycle, and therefore, as the spiritual instructors teach, you will have to start all over again.

Abortion of a child, whatever the period in which it occurs, frustrates the child's fulfilment of a generally meticulously planned existence, interrupting his or her evolutionary journey and, likewise, forcing it to restart.

Because of this, we hoped that the magazine mentioned, while regretting the expansion of the number of suicides among young people (which was done), deplored the insistent attempts to decriminalize the practice of abortion in our country.

However, the exact opposite has been the case, since the magazine has given a strong emphasis to the opinion of a citizen who, under the pretext of defending the woman's life, simply proposes the legalization of criminal abortion, that is, abortive practice that does not presents real justification for it to be carried out.

The woman’s life defense, when the pregnancy implies risk of death for the pregnant woman, is already accepted in the Brazilian penal legislation. Faced with the dilemma - saving the pregnant woman who is at risk of dying or saving the child - it is obvious that common sense and not just the law tells us how to act.

When the pregnancy is the result of violence, the law also comes to the rescue of the woman and the same measure has been admitted, some time ago, in the Judiciary, in cases of anencephaly.

Except for the three hypotheses, there are no reasons to take a child's life, just because a pregnancy has occurred, even if unwanted, since there are in large number preventive resources capable of preventing the woman from getting pregnant.

Offensive abortion is a crime and, as such, we must be charged because of it.

Let no one claim ignorance of this, for in a country which claims to adopt Christian teachings, no one is certainly unaware that among the ten commandments received by Moses on Mount Sinai one of them prescribes, imperatively and unconditionally: "Thou shalt not kill."

Coherence is fundamental in everything in life, but this virtue escaped from the magazine we report when, by deploring correctly the cases of suicide, it gave space to those who defend the legalization of abortion in a free and unjustified way, a fact that will be a regrettable setback in a country that seems to have really lost its way.
