The little monkey Mico and his
organized friend
It lived in the same tree a monkey called Mico and a
female squirrel called Lila.
She lived in the trunk, in a beautiful neat little
house.
Mico lived in the treetop. His house was made of twigs
but it had holes and was very messy. He did not like to
spend his time fixing anything.
He sometimes could see the neighbor cleaning the house.
She would come and go, take away scraps of food, dust
the furniture with her furry tail, bring flowers to
decorate the room and organize her things. She spent
hours on this task but the result was always rewarding.
It was a pleasure to enter Lila's house.
Seeing her like this, so active, Mico sometimes thought:
- What an exaggeration! She should relax more. Looks
like she just thinks about housekeeping!
At other times, he thought he should follow Lila's
example because he got bothered to live amid so much
disorder and filth.
- When I have time I'll tidy up here at home! - Thought
Mico.
But time passed and he never did anything. What Mico
wanted was to enjoy life, walk, meet friends, eat
delicious fruit. He never took the time to organize the
house.
One day, the little monkey was on a very high branch,
eating ripe berries when a bee, that was in the fruit,
stung his face. He got so scared because of the sting
that gave a scream, threw away the fruit and ran to his
house.
Arriving there, he sought a mirror to look at his face,
which it was hurting a lot, but could not find it. Mico
started to feel bad. He put his hand on his cheek and
felt it hot and swollen. He was terrified because he
remembered that he was allergic to bites and needed to
take the remedy that prevented the reaction as soon as
possible.
He was looking for the medicine here and there and
nothing. It was a long time, he was not stung and the
medicine was lost in the house. As he searched it, he
felt his face swell more and more. Until he finally
found it, but the box was spoilt and old, it showed that
the medicine was already expired.
Desperate, Mico decided to seek help and ran down to
Lila's house. She met him at the door, gentle as ever,
but almost fell on her back at the sight of her
neighbor, his face all red and swollen.
- My God! What happened, Mico? Did you fall from the
tree, face to the ground? She asked, startled.
Mico tried to explain, but he could barely speak because
his tongue was already swollen and difficult to breathe.
- Allergy! Bee! - He said, very nervous.
Lila said nothing, just wide-eyed, understood the
gravity of the situation and ran inside. She went to the
closet where she stored her medicine and in seconds was
back with a pill and a glass of water. Mico quickly took
the pill and Lila settled him comfortably on the couch.
Lila then ran to the telephone where she had already
registered the number of the Hospital of the Forest.
With a few words, she explained what was going on and
asked for immediate help.
She hung up the phone and ran to the front of the house.
Soon she saw, flying fast, Misses Owl, a forest nurse.
Lila screamed and waved at her, identifying the house.
The nurse landed beside her and was immediately taken to
Mico. She gave him an injection with more allergy
medicine and then began to examine his symptoms.
Soon after, Dr. Capybara and his two assistants arrived
with a stretcher.
Dr. Capybara heard the report of Lila and the Owl. After
analyzing Mico's conditions, he decided to take him to
the hospital.
With the medication and the care he received, Mico
managed to recover well.
The next day, his face was already normal. But he was
different. The event of the day made him think.
Mico was discharged from the hospital and on the way
home passed to the pharmacy and bought the allergy
medicine. He would now always keep it in the same place
and remember to buy another one when it be over.
He also collected the most beautiful flowers he had
found, making a beautiful bouquet, which he offered to
his friend who saved him, along with his thanks.
She was very happy to see him recovered and to have been
able to help him.
They gave a big hug and Mico went up to the treetop,
where he began to clean his house.
