Musical art
in the Brazilian spiritist
movement
According to the thoughts of
musician Paulo Cesar Vieira
Xavier, our interviewee this
week, the space that musical
art enjoys in the spiritist
movement in our country is
still shy. He was born in
Rio de Janeiro, he has lived
in Brasília (DF), where he
has lived since 1960, and
has been working in the
spiritist movement in the
capital of the Brazilian
Republic since 1970. He is
graduated in journalism at
CEUB and in music at the
Brasília Music School, he is
one of the founders of
Claudio Santoro National
Theater Symphonic Orchestra.
The interview is one of the
highlights of this edition.
Another highlight is the
special “Mental disorders in
childhood: what Spiritists
should know”, written by the
columnist and physician
Ricardo Baesso de Oliveira,
from Juiz de Fora (MG). In
the article, which was
divided into two parts, the
author presents and comments
on excerpts from interviews
and presentations on the
subject made by physician
Tais Silveira Moriyama,
doctor in Psychiatry for
children and adolescents and
director of the Barrail
Psychiatrist Institute, in
Itapira (SP). The conclusion
of the article will be
published in our next issue.
On June 18, AME-Brazil
Publisher published the
e-book Illuminated
Psychiatry – Contributions
by André Luiz for the
psychography of Chico Xavier,
organized by doctors Carlos
Eduardo Accioly Durgante and
Paulo Rogério Dalla Colletta
de Aguiar. The work focuses
on the importance of mental
health combined with
spiritual concepts and
offers us a new look at the
approach to psychiatric
care. Journalist Giovana
Campos brings us more
information about the work
in a special article.
