The closet tidiness
Caroline was late. Her family was already ready to
leave. They would go to the movies and didn't want to be
late and miss the start of the movie.
- Come on, Carol - called her mother again - What's
going on? - she asked, getting into her daughter's
bedroom.
- I wanted to go with my silver tiara. I'm trying to
find it. I know where it is. It's here somewhere -
replied the girl, rummaging through a lot of objects in
a drawer.
Her mother tried to help. She quickly opened other
drawers and the wardrobe doors, but it was all so messed
up and there were too many things piled up that she gave
up.
They couldn't take any longer and Caroline had to go
without her tiara.
The tour was great. Everyone really liked the movie.
But when they got home, Caroline's mother had a
conversation with her.
She asked her daughter to tidy up her closet. It was
necessary to separate the clothes and objects that were
no longer used and put away the ones she still wears.
The closet was filled with so much stuff and everything
was so mixed up that the clothes were wrinkled, and the
objects could not be found.
Caroline agreed that it was not possible to continue
like that and said that she would do the cleaning the
next day.
The other day Carol was willing to solve that problem,
but when she opened the closet doors and saw the mess,
she didn't even know where to start.
She even picked up some objects but felt that the desk
in her room also needed care. So, she took a cloth and
cleaned the table and chair well, top to bottom, threw
some papers away, tidied up the books and her diary that
were there and thought it looked great.
When she was finishing her mother came into the room and
saw what she was doing.
- All right, daughter, I see you're excited to tidy up
your room today. Good job, girl.
Later the mother came back again and saw that the girl
had made the bed well. She had changed the bedspread
that covered the bed and placed one that matched a
pillow, making the bed look nice.
- Your room is looking beautiful, daughter, but you've
been tidying for a long time and haven't even started
what really needs to be done - she said.
Caroline agreed and said she would do. But after almost
an hour her mother entered the room and saw the girl
lying on the bed, distracting herself reading a comic
book.
- Daughter, what about the closet? - she asked.
- Come on, mom, I'm going to rest a little. I've already
tidied up a lot.
- Carol, do you know what's going on? You're having
trouble tidying your closet up because there is so much
stuff and so much mess that has in it. So, you have done
similar things, but didn't face the real problem.
- I think that's what has happened - Caroline said sadly
- I don't know what to do. I don't think it fits
everything I have. I don't know how to separate things.
I tried to start, but I didn't know what to do to get it
right.
– No one born with knowledge of how to do everything.
Come on, I'll help - said the mother, caring.
She brought a box and a trash bag into the room.
- Daughter, you'll do it like this: get each piece from
the closet and think if you still want to keep it. If
you are still going to wear or use it, put it on top of
the bed to be organized at the end and put away again
along with other pieces of the same type.
- If you're not going to use it anymore, but it's still
good to be worn by someone else, put it in this box and
we'll later donate to someone - she continued - and if
the object or clothes no longer fit for you or for
anyone, it will be thrown away and, in that case, put it
in this bag.
Caroline understood what she had to do and started the
cleaning, which took a long time. But it was worth it.
Carol was surprised by the things she found. After
sorting everything out as her mother had taught her, she
returned things to the closet, into categories, what she
was still going to keep. She got everything right and,
despite the work it was, she was very satisfied.
A lot of people don't know, but the kind of situation
that happened to Caroline happens to them too.
Many times in life, we face difficulties. But we need to
face problems firmly, ask for help if necessary and
resolve each situation once and for all.
Sometimes we get involved in other tasks and we can even
do good things, but we shouldn't put off what needs to
be done.
Cleaning the closet was a good opportunity for Caroline
to learn this important lesson.
