Theme: Respect
Bunnies who didn't know how to respect
There was once a rabbit named Serapio. He lived on the
top of a mountain with his granddaughters Serafina and
Sephora.
Serapio was a good rabbit and very
respectful with all mountain animals and, for that they
all appreciated him very much. But his granddaughters
were different: they didn't know what respect for others
was. Serapio always apologized for what they did. Every
time they went out for a walk, Serafina would scoff:
“Look, how ugly that sheep is and look at the bull's
nose, how weird”. “Yes, look how ugly they are”,
answered Sephora in front of the other little animals.
And so, they walked and made fun of others, every day.
One day, the grandfather, tired of
the bad behavior of his granddaughters (who, no matter
how much he taught, they didn't correct themselves),
thought of something to make them understand and said to
them: "Let's play a game where each of you will have a
notebook". In the notebook they should write the word
'apology' every time they disrespected someone. Whoever
wrote that word the least would win the game.
"Alright grandpa, let's play", they
replied at the same time. When Sephora was disrespectful
at someone, Serafina would remind her of the game, and
she had to write in her notebook the word 'apology'
(because then Sephora would have more words and would
lose the game). In the same way, Sephora reminded
Serafina when she was disrespectful at someone. The days
passed and, already tired of writing, the two started to
talk: “It wouldn't be better if we didn't disrespect
others, so we wouldn't have to write so many apologies”.
The moment came at which Serapio had
to congratulate them both because they no longer had
complaints from the neighbors. So, he asked the bunnies
to erase everything they had written little by little
until their notebooks were as before. The bunnies were
very sad because they saw that it was impossible for the
notebook pages to be as they were before. So, they told
this to their grandfather, and he said to them: “The
same is true for a person's heart when we are
disrespectful to them. It is marked, and, as much as we
apologize, the marks are not completely erased.
Therefore, it is good that you remember that we must
respect others, just as we would like them to respect
us”.
