Theme: Obedience
I'm going!
Miguel was growing and learning with his family to be
better every day. But there was one thing that worried
his mother. Every time someone asked him to do
something, he replied:
- I'm going!
His mother called:
- Miguel, come to lunch!
- I’m going, mom - he'd answer, but he didn’t go.
The other day, the mother asked:
– Miguel, help Ritinha take out the trash.
- I'm going, mom!
But then again, he didn't.
Miguel got used to using that expression: “I'm going”.
His mother was getting worried. Children who learn to
obey at home, at school, in the places they go to as
children, in the future, when they become adults, will
know how to obey the rules of society, and live in
peace, living together with other people.
In addition, Miguel's behavior of not obeying was
already disturbing the family. Because he never
cooperated, some services were left undone, the house
was a mess. With his bad example, his sister no longer
wanted to obey either. Even the peace of the family was
threatened, as the mother lost her temper, the father
became nervous and the siblings argued, one accusing the
other.
One day Miguel was playing in the backyard. It was a big
ground and there was a tree there. Miguel managed to
climb the tree alone, but when it was time to came down,
he was afraid of falling. He tried on one side, on the
other, he moved to a lower branch, but still, he
couldn't. The only option was to call his mother to get
him out of there.
Suddenly, Miguel heard the popsicle cart sound. He loved
it when the ice cream man passed his street. He
immediately started screaming loudly, calling his
mother.
- Mom! Mom! Help me go down!
But the mother was far away and not listening.
Then he called out to his sister:
- Ritinha, call mom!
The girl listened, but from where she was, just replied:
- I'm going!
- Call mom - he insisted.
- I'm going! - she repeated.
- Call now, I want to get down - Miguel asked, while he
listened to the popsicle car whistles moving away, until
he couldn't hear it anymore.
Only after a long time, the girl left what she was doing
and pay attention to her brother.
So, the mother went to the tree and helped Miguel down.
The boy was angry with his sister and was about to start
fighting with her, when the mother, intervening, said:
- Have you seen, my son, how things are? Ritinha just
imitated a behavior that you keep doing yourself. Now I
think you've realized that when another person calls us
it's because they need our help at that time. We can't
just say "I'm going". We need to have obedience and go
on time. Did you see how bad it was to wait so long? You
lost your temper, you got angry. Mom tries to be patient
with you because she knows that you learn more every day
and, in the future, you will no longer have this
behavior. I don't want to need your help anymore and
hear “I'm going”; ok?
Miguel didn't like it, but he had to admit that he did
act that way. He also didn't like having to wait, afraid
of climbing down the tree. Not even missing the ice
cream...
But no doubt, this was a valid experience, because from
that day on, Miguel never stopped obeying his mother, on
time.
