Theme: Suffering
The perfection’ service
(Meimei)
An old potter, very dedicated to his work, once fell
seriously ill and began to experience enormous
difficulties.
The relatives, whom he had served most, lived in distant
regions, and seemed to have lost their memory...
With no one to help him, he began to live from public
charity, but when he was begging, he fell on the street
and broke one of his legs, being forced to rest in bed
for a long time.
Weeping, bitter, he said a prayer and begged God for
some consolation for his ills. Then he slept and dreamed
that an angel appeared to him, bringing the requested
answer.
The messenger from heaven led him to the old oven where
he was working, and, showing him some beautiful vessels
of his production, he asked:
- How did you manage to do such perfect work?
The potter, proud of his work, reported:
- Using fire very carefully and with great affection, in
the service of perfection. Some vases returned to
intense heat two or three times.
- And without fire would you carry out your task? - the
emissary asked.
- Never! - replied the old man, sure of what he said.
- So as well - clarified the angel, kindly - suffering
and struggle are the invisible flames that Our Heavenly
Father created for the beautification of our souls that,
one day, will be sublime and perfect vessels for the
service of Heaven.
At that moment, the patient woke up, understood the
Divine Will, and gave thanks to God.

Meimei, a work psychographed by the medium Chico Xavier.
