The spiritist
movement cannot be oblivious
to social problems
The sentence above, authored
by the late writer and
journalist Deolindo Amorim,
taken from one of his most
important books, is
expressly mentioned in the
special in which our
collaborator Ricardo Baesso
de Oliveira, a physician
residing in Juiz de Fora
(MG) and member of the
Editorial of this journal,
examines the influence of
social factors on human
problems. The article is one
of the highlights of this
issue.
Another highlight is the
interview given to us by the
spiritist leader from São
Paulo Ivando Xavier
Coutinho, from Jundiaí (SP),
the city where he was born
and where he participates in
two spiritist centers – the
Nova Luz Spiritist Center
and the José Herculano Pires
Spiritist Center. In the
first, he acts as director
of mediumship meetings and
in the second, he currently
holds the position of
President of the Executive
Board.
On this date, Lar Fabiano de
Cristo, in Rio de Janeiro
(RJ), completes 65 years of
existence. It was founded on
January 8, 1958, the
institution's patron is
Fabiano de Cristo, a
religious from the Order of
Friars Minor, Portuguese by
origin, who came to Brazil
very young and whose
religious life, dedicated to
the poor and sick, took
place in Rio, as shown in a
special article by Ana
Moraes.
