A piece of bread

It was a beautiful, sunny morning. The birds sang happily, hopping on the branches of the leafy trees. Colorful butterflies crossed the air in graceful flights as if dancing to the wonderful
sound of chirping birds.

Everything was joy!

Meanwhile in little Alda's house there was sadness, even though the children played carelessly.

The family was going through difficult times. The father was unemployed, he had no work and they had already eaten all that month's purchases they bought at the supermarket.

Mama Laura was downcast! The red, puffy eyes attested to the silent tears that had slipped down her tired cheeks. She didn't know where to get food to feed her four children. And, while she tidied up the house, she thought anxiously:

- What should I do? Did dad get the job? Will he bring any money? Will he be back soon?

And full of agony, she looked at the clock. But the hours went by slowly...

Suddenly, the 5-year-old youngest, little Alda, spoke:

- Mom, I'm hungry.

- I have nothing to give you, my daughter - replied Mrs. Laura, in a trembling voice.

Alda raised her head in astonishment and spoke slowly again.

- But I'm hungry, Mom!

So, the mother, in need of doing something, whatever it was, sat down next to her daughter, who looked at her in amazement, and said sadly:

- Let's pray, daughter. Let's ask Heavenly Father for a piece of bread.

And Mrs. Laura, hugging the youngest, prayed to God, begging for help.

When she finished, Alda looked up at her mother and, passing her little hand over her face, wet with tears, she said with a smile:

- Perhaps Heavenly Father is cutting bread for us.

Mrs. Laura smiled and, more excited, tried to distract her children.

Meanwhile, Mr. Gustavo, the father, walked the city streets in search of work. In several places he was and in all of them he had the same answer:

- We have no positions. We are admitting nobody.

And Mr. Gustavo went ahead, always ahead. Until, discouraged, he returned home. But, when he was almost there, he heard a voice:

- Hello! Long time no see you!

It was a great friend of Mr. Gustavo, who had just arrived from a long trip. The two embraced and, noticing Gustavo's downcast and distressed face, the friend immediately wanted to know what was going on.

Mr. Gustavo told. He had no job! He had no money! He didn't even have enough to feed the family. The friend owned a market and offered him the job of a cashier, authorizing him to immediately withdraw the necessary supplies, which would be deducted from his salary.

Shortly afterwards, a delivery boy from the market knocked on Mrs. Laura's door. He was carrying a basket full of packages: rice, potatoes, beans, oil, sugar, etc. And a big bread on top of it. It was the first thing Alda saw!

- Mommy! - She screamed - Check it out! God did not cut the bread! He sent it all to us! - And, very happy, she added:

– Thank you so much, Heavenly Father, thank you so much!
