Education is
the existential goal of the
human being
The thought expressed in the
sentence above is from our
interviewee, spiritist
pedagogue Maria Amélia
Bolsoni, vice president of
the Spiritist Center Chico
Xavier, in Santos (SP). She
was born in the city of
Araraquara, in the interior
of São Paulo, she –
currently retired –
dedicated her professional
life to education, a task
that she continues to
exercise in spiritist
endeavors, as head of the
Doctrinal Department of the
institution where she works.
The interview is one of the
highlights of this edition.
Organ donation and
transplants from a Christian
perspective are the theme of
the Special we publish in
this issue, authored by our
colleague Jorge Hessen,
member of the Editorial
Board of our magazine. In
the article, he reminds us
that, according to Spiritist
teachings, the donation of
organs for transplantation
does not in any way affect
the spirit of the donor, in
addition to being a valuable
opportunity placed at our
disposal for the exercise of
love.
On August 18, 1863, the
Bishop of Algiers sent a
Pastoral Letter to the
parish priests of his
diocese, in which, after
warning about the
“superstition called
Spiritism”, he ordered the
interdiction of the practice
of Spiritism and the
evocation of the dead in all
of diocese of Algiers. The
episode, with all its
minutiae, is examined in a
special article by our
colleague Thiago Bernardes.
