Theme: Faith in God
The Bud and the Flower
Once a seed, which was sleeping, was planted in a
garden. He was placed at the bottom of a hole, covered
with soil and fertilizer. Water was poured on top, which
entered the soil and wet the seed, causing him to
awaken.
The little seed woke up calmly,
snuggled by the soft earth. He didn't know what he was
doing there, nor that he had been planted for a purpose.
But he felt like moving. Thus, despite suffering
resistance from the ground, he struggled and little by
little managed to open up and begin to expand.
In a short time, the seed started to
find that place uncomfortable. It was cramped and dark.
It felt like he needed to try harder, because staying
there wasn't good. So, he kept expanding, growing
downwards as well as upwards. He was no longer a seed
but a sprout.
One fine day, the little sprout
managed to break through the mud and project himself
into a new world. He saw the light of day and was able
to contemplate everything around him. He felt the warmth
of the sun's rays and felt very happy!
The sprout spent that day dazzled,
but the hours passed, and night arrived. Without the
sun, darkness returned, and the inexperienced sprout
became terrified and began to cry. He no longer wanted
to live in the dark after having known the light.
– Calm down, my little friend! What
is it happening? – asked the flower next door gently.
– Everything was so good... but it
didn’t last so long... – replied the little sprout,
whimpering.
The flower realized that he was still
very small and understood his concern, because, after
all, she had been through this too.
She explained to him that the night
wouldn't last forever. After it would come another
day... And then, another night... and there would be
many nights and many days too.
The little sprout calmed down when he
heard this and decided to wait. When the next day
dawned, he was happy again and enjoyed the hours of
light.
Later, night came again, but this
time, already forewarned, the sprout did not despair.
After a few days the night no longer scared him. But new
events were to come.
One day, the sky began to turn dark
early, a very strong wind began to blow and soon a
violent storm broke. Without knowing what was happening,
the sprout despaired again.
The plants were shaken by the gusts
of wind and the drops fell heavily on the plants. The
flower, with difficulty, shouted to the little sprout:
– Hold tight! This sometimes happens,
but it will soon pass!
Upon listening to the flower, the
sprout became more confident and courageous to withstand
the storm. And when it passed, everything was fine in
the garden again.
The sprout then said to the flower:
– Thanks for helping me. You know
many things. Tell me: What else can happen?
– We still have the seasons for you
to know – she replied. – There are times of very heat,
very cold and even frost. There are also times of
drought or heavy rain like this. But I don't know
everything. Sometimes something happens that is new to
me too.
– And you’re not worried about that?
– the bud wanted to know.
– At first, I was. But I already
realized that there are many phases. Some are delicious,
others are more difficult. They never last forever, but
they always have a purpose and bring us some learning.
– I don't know many things yet – said
the sprout – but I trust you.
– Trust in life and in God,
everything will be fine! – replied the flower, smiling.
The bud grew, turned into beautiful
foliage, and remained friends with the flower. The two,
together, went through all phases of life with courage,
as they used the flower's recipe to live with faith in
God, and thus had a good and peaceful life.
