Medicine In The
Shape Of Trees
One day Robert went for a walk with his father. The area
was nice and full of trees. Robert looked at the
beautiful trees that grew there and smiled:
- Dad, these trees are beautiful! I wonder who would
have planted them?
- Ah, son, it was Nature! When I first came here, still
a young boy, almost nothing was green, but in time these
different species of trees began to appear! Each person
would bring a seedling, and now, as you can see, they
are really huge and beautiful!
- But why do people plant trees, Daddy? - asked the
little boy.
The father looked at his son and pointed his finger at
the huge trees:
- Look how many different species are planted here. When
planting a seedling, we are not planting for ourselves,
but for those who will come as time goes by! These trees
will produce fruits and flowers for those who pass by.
This way, everyone can receive their blessings in the
form of flowers or fruit!
- But why, Dad? - asked the boy, who did not yet
understand.
The father sat on a large root and, putting the child in
his lap, pointed with his finger:
- Robert! Look around, son! Whoever planted the seed of
that huge tree there, did not plant it for themselves,
but for those who would come well after them! Whoever
planted each type of tree, whether of flowers or fruits,
planted them so that others who came later could benefit
from those trees. Many of these trees provide medicine
that heal people!
- Is that right, Dad?
- Yes, son. When we plant a tree, we are not thinking
about our hunger, but of how many people it can feed
with its fruits over time!
- That's right, Dad. Many people are going to pick their
fruit and flowers up, right?
- Certainly, Robert. Here I am seeing many medicinal
trees and certainly there are people who benefit from
them!
The father looked at his watch and said:
- But it's late now and we need to get back home - and
he took the boy by the hand.
Arriving home, Robert excitedly asked his mother:
- Mommy, did you know that Dad took me to a grove with
many huge beautiful trees? I loved it! Each one had a
different job from the others.
- What do you mean, honey? - his mother asked, smiling.
- Mom, I'll tell you: Do you know what I learned today?
That everything we see has a job. For example: The light
you lit, will serve for all who enter here! If you
prepare lunch with vegetables, potatoes and everything
else, it will be for those who arrive! And even the
water that runs in a stream will help those who need it!
Isn’t it wonderful?
- Certainly, Robert! What a wonderful thing Nature is,
isn’t it?
- Mom, one day I'll take you to see that beautiful
forest full of trees!
- Well, I want to see where you and your father went to
see those wonders!
The boy hugged his mother's legs, and said:
- I’ll take you, Mom! You will see how good God is to us
all! He gives us everything, we just have know how to
harvest and use! There is even medicine in the shape of
trees!
