A significant number of
congressmen attended the 9th
World Spiritist Congress
Promoted by the Spiritist
Council of Mexico and
organized by the
International Spiritist
Council (CEI), the 9th World
Spiritist Congress was held
on October 4, 5 and 6 in
Mexico City, on the subject
of “Building the Spiritual
Man of the Future”. Divaldo
Franco was one of the
highlights of the event,
which was attended by a
large audience, ranging from
1,400 to 1,800 people in the
three days of activities.
Elsa Rossi, who was present
at the Congress, is the
author of the report we
published in this issue,
which is one of the
highlights of this edition.
Another highlight is the
interview that the physician
Jose Antonio Vieira de
Paula, one of the most
appreciated Spiritist
speakers of our region, gave
to our magazine. Born in the
city of Itapetininga (SP)
and graduated in Medicine
from the State University of
Londrina in 1980, since then
he settled in Cambe (PR),
where he became aware of
Spiritism in 1983. Author of
the book “Um Minuto com
Chico Xavier” (A Minute with
Chico Xavier), he has since
1987 participated in
Spiritist dissemination
activities through the
Spiritist press and lectures
and seminars in Parana and
several Brazilian states.
“The good mediator of
Jesus” is the title and
subject of the Special
Article published in this
issue. Its author, Valeria
de Oliveira Xavier da Silva,
based in Brasilia (DF),
mentions in her article the
following sentence by
Emmanuel, in a
psychographics by Chico
Xavier: “Mediumship without
its exercise in the good is
similar to the professional
title without its
corresponding function”, to
remind us what our
commitment within mediumship
is and what a Spiritist must
do to become a good mediator
of Jesus.
