Kardec's
best-known work, The
Gospel According to
Spiritism turns 156
In April 1864, seven years
after the launch of the
first edition of the Spirits'
Book, Allan Kardec
published what would be his
best known and certainly the
most widely read work: The
Gospel according to
Spiritism, whose initial
edition came out with the
title Imitation of the
Gospel according to
Spiritism. Antonio Cesar
Perri de Carvalho, former
president of the Brazilian
Spirit Federation, tells us
about the work and its
importance, in the Special
entitled The Gospel
according to Spiritism - 156
years! The article
is one of the highlights of
this edition.
Another highlight is the
interview that our
collaborator Orson Peter
Carrara made with Nerita
Aparecida Vieira Pio, from
the Chico Xavier Fraternity
House, in Araraquara (SP).
In the interview, our
interviewee tells us about
her experience with the art
of storytelling, a didactic
resource that facilitates,
especially for children, the
understanding of the
teachings brought by the
Gospel and by the Spirit
doctrine.
Jorge Leite de Oliveira,
from Brasília (DF), in a
special article entitled
“Trajectory of a spirit from
Minas Gerais”, focuses on
the life and work of the
confrere Jair Ribeiro de
Oliveira, now 90 years old,
whose work in the spirit
midst began in the fifties
in the town of Leopoldina
(MG), where he was the
director, in the 1955/56
biennium, of the traditional
Spirit Centre Love to
Neighbour. The report is
also one of the highlights
of this number.
