Antuza

The deaf-mute who listened and spoke

Alex Guimarães

Living in the city of São José dos Campos (SP), Alex Guimarães, who has already published two books for children, "The Laying Giant - The story of Jerônimo Mendonça" and "Huey, the Centennial Boy", presents us now with another story published by EVOC – The Virtual Publisher of the magazine O Consolador (The Comforter). You are going to meet "Antuza - The deaf-mute who listened and spoke", translated into English, thanks to the kind collaboration of Eleni Frangatos, who lives in Vinhedo (SP).
But how could Antuza, who lived in Uberaba (MG) and healed people with her hands, hear if she was deaf?
How could she speak, it she was mute?
What did she listen?
She listened to whom?
With whom did she speak?
When you read this book – a book especially for children – you will know a little more about this “shorty” that was a friend of Chico Xavier, Jerônimo Mendonça, Eurípedes Barsanulfo and Maria Modesto Cravo.
The cover and illustrations are a creation of the author himself, with the collaboration of his daughter and his wife, who helped mostly in the graphic design. Astolfo Olegário de Oliveira Filho revised the text.
