 to obsession

We present in this issue the topic #124 from the Systematized Study of the Spiritist Doctrine, that is being presented weekly, according to the programme elaborated by the Brazilian Spiritist Federation (FEB), structured in 6 modules and 147 topics.

Obsession of any type needs difficult treatment 

1. The problem of obsession of any kind involves the spirit who influences negatively the victim and the spirit who is being influenced. Almost always, obsession involves past lives connections between the incarnated and the disincarnated spirit. The negative influence that the incarnated spirit receives is subtle at the beginning, but with time, the cerebral damage happens. This evolves to a state where the spirit that influences negatively and the one who is influenced complete each other.  

2. The causes of obsession come from moral issues where the spirit influencing and the spirit influenced negatively came across each other in past lives. Now meeting each other again and being under the Justice of God, these spirits share mental exchanges, many times during the pregnancy. This exchange of vibration gets stronger with the birth of the spirit who is being influenced negatively.  

3. Obsession of any kind, from simple obsession to subjugation, requires difficult treatment because both, the spirit being influenced and the one influencing are spiritually disturbed.  

4. When obsession become stronger, they complement each other mentally, brain to brain, mind to mind. The will which wants to dominate and the will who wants to be dominated, organ to organ through the spiritual body. Each suggestion accepted by the spirit influenced makes the spirit influencing more present. The spirit influencing the other negatively becomes a co dependent, establishing a symbiosis. The spirit influencing negatively dominates and annuls the will of the spirit influenced.

5. In every type of obsession, the incarnated spirit carries within himself/herself the factors which favour obsession like moral flaws to be corrected that allow this process to happen. Finding in their victims the access,  predisposition and no moral defences, the spirit who influences negatively will use all of these to disturb the spirit influenced.  

6. This interference happens in a process similar to the radio waves, where an unauthorised radio station uses the same wave than the authorised radio station, disturbing it’s transmission. The spirit influencing negatively is persistent in establishing a mental synchrony, sending their thoughts constantly, like hypnosis. The mind of the spirit being influenced assimilates these thoughts and let themselves be dominated by the intrusive ideas.  

7. Kardec teaches us that in obsession, the spirit acts externally with the help of its perispirit which connects with the perispirit of the incarnated spirit. The incarnated spirit is forced to act against his /hers own will.  

8. In the presence of spirits who influence negatively, we need to keep praying with faith and devotion. The incarnated spirit needs to keep in touch with God as much as the physical body needs air to breathe and live. On Earth, we are what we think and we synchronise with minds that are alike ours. It’s very important to cultivate good thoughts to neutralise bad spiritual influences from the ones who surround us day by day. Praying, we also learn how to meditate about necessities of spiritual progress and spiritual freedom.  

In the treatment against obsession, the spirit being influenced negatively needs to help himself/herself 

9. When dealing with spirits that want to disturb us, we need to be good and open our hearts to forgiveness and indulgence, in order to be fraternal and comprehensive. It’s also necessary to change our intimate predisposition while talking to these spirits of disturbed ideas through words and thoughts. Let’s learn how to help them with love and humility.  

10. The unstoppable work for the good, inspired in the teachings of morally superior spiritual guides, keep our minds and hearts synchronised with Jesus. From the spiritually advanced environments, we will find strength to beat aggressions that we might be victims of. Praying and helping others, we will find our inner peace.  

11. When asked to help a person who is being influenced negatively by a spirit, we shouldn’t lack patience and comprehension. We shouldn’t lack words of encouragement and exchange of good energies either. It’s however, imperative that the person who is being influenced negatively seek help and we should insist that they help themselves.  

12. They should understand that helping themselves to progress spiritually, they will be also helping the spirit influencing them negatively. Connected to each other by Divine Justice, the spirit influencing negatively needs to evolve as well.
