In early October, the
confrere Hugo Gonçalves,
founder and director of the
newspaper O Imortal,
celebrated his 96th birthday
with a festive dinner in
Londrina. The commemoration
is the theme of this week’s
editorial, entitled
Hugo, 96 years of life and
examples.
One of the highlights in
this issue is the interview
conceded to our collaborator
Orson Peter Carrara by the
confrere José Antônio Luiz
Balieiro, current president
of the USE São Paulo, who
makes an analysis of the
Spiritist Movement in São
Paulo state, also mentioning
further projects of the
institution.
Another highlight is the
special article by Américo
Domingos Nunes Filho about
Francisco de Assis, love in
action, whose date is
celebrated in October.
It’s been 60 years since the
Golden Pact was signed on
5/10/1949, which originated
the National Federative
Council, currently based in
Brasilia, as shows the
report by Thiago Bernardes,
which is also a highlight in
this edition.

On 9th October 1861, the
self-of-faith toke place in
Barcelona. After mentioning
the fact in the Revue
Spirite, Kardec said
that the date should be a
day of joy for Spiritists,
not for mourning, and then
transcribed a message from
Saint Dominique (Spirit),
who said that such episode
would contribute for the
divulgation of Spiritism in
Spain.
