O Consolador:
Have you taken
part in other
groups before
the foundation
of this
institution?
No. We worked at
another city
nearby, São
Gotardo. There
are other
spiritist
centres in this
city
disseminating
the spiritist
doctrine.
O Consolador:
Is this the
first
institution in
the city? If
not, how many
others are
there?
The city of
Tiros is quite
small; there are
only 7 thousand
habitants there.
This is the
first spiritist
institution
which was
founded in this
city.
O Consolador:
Where did you
get the material
resources from
to construct the
building?
Our head office
was inaugurated
on the 21st
February 2010.
Several brothers
contributed for
this project.
O Consolador:
Has the
construction
been done
specifically for
the maintenance
of a spiritist
centre?
Yes, it has. It
was planned and
built for this
purpose.
O Consolador:
When was it
inaugurated?
On the 23rd
February 2010;
it was great.
There were not
that many
people, but the
number exceeded
our
expectations. We
had a 40 minute
lecture and
healing
afterwards.
O Consolador:
What is the
programme of
your meetings at
the centre?
We have open
public talks
every Tuesdays
from 7:30pm to
9:00pm. By the
time this
magazine is
published, it is
possible that we
will already be
offering
fraternal soup
every Sunday, as
part of our
Department of
Social
Assistance.
O Consolador:
What are the
plans for the
future?
We want the
centre to be
known in the
region, but
mainly in our
city as there is
a lot of
prejudice
against
Spiritism here.
We want to bring
speakers to show
the true
spiristist
principles; love
and charity.
O Consolador:
How has the city
welcomed the
spiritist
centre?
The inauguration
was great; there
were people
coming from
nearby cities
giving us full
support. We have
a lot of work to
do, though. We
want to tell the
people from
Tiros what is in
fact Spiritism.
O Consolador:
Is there
anything else
you would like
to add?
I would like to
thank God, the
spiritual
benefactors and
the brothers who
embraced this
cause with us.
"The dream has
now come true."
O Consolador:
Can you please
give us your
final words?
There are many
places where
there is a
massive need for
spiritual
assistance,
cities very
similar to Tiros.
Some cities are
involved with
the issues of
abortion,
suicide and
drugs, fro
examples. We
want to engage
and help the
cities of
Matutina and
Santa Rosa to
found spiritist
centres in each
one of them.
"Evil can only
spread out if
good men decide
to back of from
the good work."
Let’s
disseminate the
spiritist
doctrine and
wait for the
seeds to fall
into good soil.

Tiros is a
Brazilian
municipality
located in the
northwest of the
state of Minas
Gerais. Its
population as of
2007 was 7,416
people living in
a total area of
2,093 km². The
city belongs to
the mesoregion
of Triângulo
Mineiro e Alto
Paranaíba and to
the microregion
of Patos de
Minas. It became
a municipality
in 1924. The
region was first
settled during
the Portuguese
colonial period
in the
eighteenth
century due to
the discovery of
diamonds. The
first settlement
was called Vila
de Santo Antônio
de Tiros. In
1867 it became a
parish of the
municipality of
São Francisco
das Chagas do
Campo Grande; in
1870 it jointed
the municipality
of Dores da
Marmelada; in
1911, it became
a district; in
1923 it became
the municipality
of Tiros.
According to
some historians,
the name is
derived from a
firefight
between diamond
miners and
smugglers in
1801. The most
important
economic
activities are
cattle raising,
commerce, and
agriculture. The
GDP in 2005 was
R$ R$65 million,
with 24 million
generated by
services, 05
million
generated by
industry, and 33
million
generated by
agriculture.
Tiros is in the
middle tier of
municipalities
in the state
with regard to
economic and
social
development. As
of 2007 there
was one banking
agency in the
town. There was
a modest retail
infrastructure
serving the
surrounding area
of cattle and
agricultural
lands. There
were 1,280
automobiles in
all of the
municipality
(2007), about
one for every 06
inhabitants. |
