Two major events occurred
in
Cuba during April
Coinciding with Mother's
Day, this issue’s editorial
“Maternal love is a myth?”
analyzes in light of
Spiritism, the argument put
forth by the French teacher
Elisabeth Badinter, whereby
the maternal instinct is a
myth.
Among the highlights of the
week, we call attention to
the interview given to our
collaborator Antonio Augusto
Nascimento by our colleague
Mábel Meichtry Farina,
president of the Spiritist
Society Adolfo Bezerra de
Menezes in Itaqui-RS.
Spiritist for 26 years,
Mábel develops intense
activity in the field of
doctrinal studies and
promotion of Spiritism,
participates in two weekly
programs on local radio
stations and publishes the
periodical "The Comforter".
Another highlight of this
edition is the special
article by Nuno Emanuel,
from Lisbon, Portugal, on
Helen Keller, an example of
resilience and willpower of
a person who, although born
healthy, at 18 months old
became blind, deaf and dumb
due to a cerebral
congestion.
In late April, the city of
Bayamo, Cuba, hosted the 6th
Central-American and
Caribbean Spiritist Congress
and the 27th
Cuban Spiritist Congress, as
reported by Ana Morales in
her feature story, which is
also one of the highlights
of the week.

The studies of the New
Testament and the Spiritist
Magazine conclude with this
edition, and will be
replaced starting next week
with the study of the
Kardecian Pentateuch and the
works of Manoel Philomeno de
Miranda.
With this issue, we begin
the study of one more
classic book of Spiritism: “Spiritism
and Science”, by Gabriel
Delanne, translated from the
French original “Le
Spiritisme devant la
science”, published in
1885.
