A chat with Ivomar da Costa,
from Pelotas
We start with this
edition the
activities of our
magazine in
2013, which presents since
now a novelty, in another
words, the
presentation of relevant
news to the
Spiritism movement in
only two
sections: Movimento
Espírita Brasileiro, for the
national news, and O
Espiritismo em outros países,
for international
reporting, which will be
from now on
the responsibility of
ourpartner Eunice de
Oliveira Cazetta.
This week’s editorial,
“The role of Christian
morality in the
reconstruction of the world”,
discusses if the evangelical
morality may actually
contribute something to
transform the world we live
in.
Our interviewee this week is
Ivomar Schüler da Costa, who
lives in the city of Pelotas
and is a member of the
Faith, Hope and Charity
Spiritist Center. In the
interview, which was given
to our collaborator Marcus
Braga, the scholar from Rio
Grande do Sul analyzes the
problem of managing
spiritist houses and says,
yes, we need to change the
organizational model of our
institutions so they can
achieve better efficiency in
the execution of their
activities. The interview is
one of the highlights of
this edition.
Another highlight of this
issue is the special article
“Popularize Spiritism.
This is the great
challenge!” by Tânia
Reato, from São João da Boa
Vista, SP. In the article,
she emphasizes the need for
a better dissemination of
Spiritism, if we are to
truly cooperate in the
transformation of our
planet.
Ivan Franzolim analyzes data
from the Census conducted by
IBGE and says the number of
spiritists in Brazil had a
significant growth of about
45% between 2000 and 2010.
The story is also one of the
highlights of this edition.

On Tuesday, January 1st,
Our Home Spiritist Center,
in Londrina, PR, completed
79 years of existence.
Founded in 1934 under a
different name, the story of
"Our Home" is intertwined
with the history of the city
of Londrina, emancipated
that same year, but eleven
months later.
