The beneficial influence
of disease
Léon Denis was who said that pain is the law of balance and education. Planet of evidence and atonement, the Earth offers us countless examples of people facing the pain in its many aspects. The pain of losing a child, the pain of separation from who moves away, the pain from an illness dogged ... The shape is quite varied, but that does not matter because either one way or another, the pain is shared by almost everyone.
In "And Life Goes On", psychographic by Chico Xavier, André Luiz tells us about the pain in one of its facets and shows us how the disease has the power to change the course of our concerns. The book recounts the experiences of the central characters of the story, Evelina Serpa and Ernesto Fantini, who suffered from the same illness.
In a meeting with Evelina, days before the surgery that would lead to his disembodiment, Ernesto said: "Before the disease, I recognized myself safe in life. Commanded the events, I did not know, at least, the existence of this or that organ in my body. However, a tumor in the adrenal gland is not a stone in the shoe. There is something of a ghost announcing setbacks and forcing me to think, reason, discern..."
Indeed, many people only awaken to the spiritual realities when they face similar situations as the couple did. The disease of difficult treatment and uncertain cure causes us to see Earth things with other eyes.
The concern about Ernesto Fantini brought curiosity about matters related to the spiritual life and the possibility of exchange between us and the Spirits. The theme absorbed him so that now Fantini could not evade the host study.
Regarding the subject of death, which was discussed then he revealed not fear it so much, but Evelina admitted she did not want it, stating that, in the face of illness, was living more careful and harmonized with religious duties.
The conversation between them continued frank and respectful for some time, until they parted, returning to meet themselves weeks later, not on the earth plane, but in the spiritual world that awaits us all, since they did not stand against the virulence of the disease that affected them.
Such cases are much more common than you think and it would be very nice that people, sure of the transience of life, should not have to expect the proximity of death to take care of the things of the spirit, fulfilling an early age, since youth, the part they play in the work of creation, as it is told us in issue 132 of The Spirits’ Book, without transferring to the future tasks that may be much performed or initiated in this life.
