Sergio, a very
mischievous boy,
was always
creating
problems with
his friends and
getting in
trouble. His
mother would run
after him,
screaming:
|
- Sergio! Do not
do it, son! You
will get hurt!
- Get off the
roof, Sergio!
You might fall
and break a
leg!
- Sergio! Do not
fight with the
cat! Do not hit
the dog!
But the boy was
really naughty
and was always
doing what he
should not.
One day his
mother, full of
patience, put
him on her lap
|
and
said: |
|
- Dear, each one
of us receives
always according
to what we do.
You see what
happens to
plants? We plant
and reap what we
sow, right?
- Yeah, Mom. You
planted a tomato
vine and now we
eat tomatoes
from our
backyard, which
I like a lot! -
he recalled.
- So, when we do
wrong things,
what will we
reap? For
example: You
provoke your
cat. How does it
react? - asked
the mother.
- He scratches
me with his
sharp nails!
- That's right.
And if you hit
your dog?
- He will bark
and growl
angrily, trying
to bite me!
- Exactly, son.
But you like
them. So why get
them angry? Any
day they might
attack you and
you will not
like it!
The boy hung his
head in
agreement with
his mother and
promised not to
tease his pets
anymore.
But he soon
forgot what he
had promised.
One day he was
coming home from
school and saw a
rooster that
pecked around a
lawn.
He got close to
the rooster and
began to tease
him. The rooster
got roused,
looking
menacing, then
went on to
attack him.
Sergio ran to
escape the
rooster who,
faster than him,
caught up and
began to peck at
his legs. The
boy ran
terrified and
screaming:
|
|
- Help! Help!...
Get this rooster
away from
me!...
But there was
nobody who could
help him. And
what was worse:
Sergio tripped
and fell, and
the rooster got
on him, pecking
him while he
defended himself
with his
backpack.
Luckily for him,
the owner of the
rooster was now
coming home and
saw the boy's
situation.
He ran, grabbed
the rooster and
apologizing to
the boy, asked:
- But what
happened? My
rooster is
peaceful! Pepe
only attacks
when provoked!
|
Sergio, stopping
to cry, wiped
his face and
justified:
- I wanted to
play with your
rooster, but I
think he did not
like it.
- Ah! I know
what happened!
You must have
provoked Pepe!
Look, kid, you
could have been
badly hurt. Pepe
is a fighting
rooster! I got
him from a
friend who
bought him for
thinking he was
beautiful but
when my friend
found out that
he liked to
attack people,
he did not want
him anymore for
being too
dangerous. As I
|
love
animals,
I
decided
to look
after
him and
train
him to
change
his
behavior.
Thus,
Pepe has
never
attacked
anyone
anymore.
Are you
hurt? |
The boy looked
at the rooster,
now in the arms
of the owner and
said:
- Do not worry.
I got some
scratches and
pecks but I
deserved it.
I'll never mess
with any pet
again.
The man walked
Sergio to his
house, told the
boy's mother
what had
happened and
considered:
- As Pepe's
owner, I feel
responsible for
what happened to
your son. I
apologize,
ma'am!
- Do not worry.
I know my son
Sergio and have
a good idea of
what happened -
she said,
turning to her
son and asking:
- How are you,
dear? Let me see
your wounds! It
was nothing.
I'll get my
first aid kit
and soon solve
the problem.
After thoroughly
cleaning the
wounds on the
legs, she put
medicine on them
and, when
finished, left
her son lying on
the couch. The
man, calmer now
seeing that
Sergio was well,
again apologized
for his rooster
to what Sergio
said:
- Do not
apologize. It
was my fault
because I teased
Pepe. Could I
see him from
time to time? I
like your
rooster!
- Of course you
can! That is, if
your mother
allows it.
- Mom will,
won't you? She
knows that it
was my fault.
Thus, all
settled, the boy
took a deep
breath, pleased
to be well and
promised to
never tease any
more animals. He
fell in love
with Pepe, who
also came to
cherish him,
becoming his
friend.
Sergio's cat and
dog also liked
the news,
because they did
not get stressed
out with the
boy's
provocations
anymore, whose
behavior changed
completely. He
now treated them
with love and
kindness.
