In which way
working in
several media
through Mundo
Maior TV helps
your work in the
dissemination of
Spiritism?
We are able to
reach our public
in many ways and
that is very
gratifying. It
is important to
have consistency
in the message
you send out on
every channel,
trying to meet
the demands of
our public. And
either on the TV
channel or on
Facebook or
YouTube we
always try to
keep our public
across our
latest
programmes.
What is the
feedback and
impact of your
work?
We receive daily
emails with
questions,
suggestions and
comments, but
also criticism
to our work,
which is also
very welcome.
After all, how
would we improve
without honest
feedback and
criticism? But
most of the
comments are
very positive,
especially after
the launch of
the new
television
website, which
is more dynamic
and has more
interactivity
tools available.
The outcome has
been what we
expected: more
users accessing
our website and
our pages on the
social
networks.
What have been
the TV’s
editorial
priorities in
the production
of videos, clips
and news
reports?
Our decisions
are always taken
collectively, in
editorial
meetings and
informal chats.
Everyone has an
opportunity to
pitch ideas and
share their
views. Our
programmes focus
on a number of
issues, such as
health,
psychology,
literature,
journalism etc.
Our aim is to
take Spiritism
to our audience
with a human
perspective. One
of our main
programmes, O
Mundo Maior
Repórter,
looks into more
complex issues,
such as
homosexuality,
human
trafficking,
suicide and
drugs. The
programmes has
also looked into
the Law of Cause
and Effect, the
spirituality of
animals and even
what happened
behind the
scenes at the
football World
Cup Brazil
hosted earlier
this year.
What are the
main challenges
you have faced?
Is it the
construction of
the scenes, the
research or
reporting on
those issues?
The creation of
programmes,
videos and news
reports demands
hard work. Each
area has its own
challenges. We
need to try to
match the agenda
of the
newsreaders with
that of the
guests, without
clashing with
the agenda of
the TV crew. The
research of
images is also
hard work. These
are only but a
few of the
challenges we
face everyday.
But it is
important to
stress that the
whole Mundo
Maior TV team
works in good
harmony, helping
each other in
all aspects of
our work. We are
fully aware that
together we
multiply our
individual
knowledge and
talents.
Tell us a bit
about the Sol de
Outubro (October
Sun) band.
The band was
founded in 2011,
inspired by the
work of the
students at the
Society of
Spiritist
Studies October
3rd.
Alice, who was
then on module
4, received a
message through
mediumship with
the lyrics for a
song, “Que Paz É
Essa?” (“What
Sort of Peace is
that?”). That
became the title
of the group’s
first CD. Other
musicians began
to join the band
and we are now
seven members.
Our work is
entirely
voluntary and
the income from
selling the CDs
goes to charity.
Our second CD
will be released
later this year.
The lyrics are
always written
by Spirits and
received through
a medium. Our
musicians, who
are inspired by
the Spiritual
Benefactors, add
the melody. Our
main aim is to
convey the
teachings of
Jesus through
our songs.
How can people
access the work
of the band or
contact you?
We can be
contacted
through our
website,
www.soldeoutubro.com.br.
You will also be
able to listen
to our first CD
in full there or
on Soundcloud (www.soundcloud.com-soldeoutubro).
We also post our
latest news,
concert dates
and new songs on
Facebook and
Youtube (www.youtube.com/soldeoutubro).
What is your
assessment of
the work carried
out to
disseminate
Spiritism now
through the
media and
music?
I believe the
dissemination of
Spiritism is
going through an
important phase.
The new media,
such as Facebook
and YouTube,
make it possible
for us to
millions of
people around
the world.
Through
television,
music, cinema,
the theatre and
other art forms
we are committed
to spread the
comforting
message of
Spiritism in a
sensitive and
educational way.
We need to help
transform
consciences and
prepare the soil
for the seeds of
the new
Regeneration
phase. We need
to have more
professionalism
in delivering
the message, but
we cannot lose
the love, which
is an essential
part of
Spiritism.
Is there
anything else
you would like
to add?
Regardless of
the platform,
social network
or website, it
is important
that we touch
the hear of our
audience, either
through our
programmes or
the images and
messages that we
share. Everyone
can help
disseminate the
message of good
brought us by
Spiritism by
sharing them
with their
friends.
