Gabriel was
passionate about
kites. Since he
was a little
boy, his father
taught him how
to make one and
play with it.
He loved playing
with it and
seeing how the
kite goes higher
and higher in
the sky. His
friend Margaret
was always
asking:
— Gabriel, can I
please play with
your kite?
Just once!
He would say:
— No, this is
not for girls.
Besides, you
will destroy my
kite.
She would then
say:
— But I let you
ride my bicycle
and read my
books!
One day, Gabriel
made a beautiful
new kite and the
girl asked him
to play with it.
— No, Margaret.
I am not going
to let you touch
my new kite.
The girl decided
to go home, but
was so
frustrated and
angry with him!
Right after
school, Margaret
passed by
Gabriel’s home
and saw him
playing with
another friend.
She also saw the
kite, which was
left by a tree.
The girl decided
to get the kite
and run, without
getting
noticed.
|
When she got
home, she
started playing
with it.
Margaret then
unfastened the
line and the
kite went
higher. Out of a
sudden, the kite
was stuck in a
branch of a
tree. She got
scared that
Gabriel would
then realise the
kite was missing
and she had it.
Margaret tried
to pull it but
it fall on the
floor, all
damaged.
She decided to
get the pieces
of the kite and
hide it in her
room. Not long
later, Gabriel
came to her.
— My kite was
stolen. Have you
seen who
|
took
it?
— No, I haven’t.
|
She got into her
house and left
him in the
street, by
himself. Her mom
noticed she was
acting a bit
weird.
At night time,
she asked
Margaret:
— You don’t seem
very well, my
daughter. What
happened?
The girl started
to cry and told
her mom what
happened.
— I had no
intention to
damage his kite,
mom. I just
wanted to play
with it a bit.
Now, I don’t
know what to
do!
Her mom then
said nicely:
— I know,
daughter, but
you made a big
mistake: you
took a toy that
doesn’t belong
to you without
asking him
first. Then, you
ended up
damaging it.
— What should I
do, mom?
— Pray and ask
Jesus to help
you.
Please remember
what you have
learned so far.
Think about what
is the best
solution. I am
sure you will
wake up tomorrow
with a solution.
Now, good night.
Sleep well, my
daughter.
Margaret thought...
and thought..
and thought...
She remembered
taking the kite
without asking
Gabriel first.
This was
disrespectful.
She wouldn’t
like someone who
did the same to
her.
On the next day,
she knew what
she needed to
do.
After school,
she bought paper
and made a kite.
She saw how
Gabriel would
make them so
many times she
knew exactly how
to do one. Later
on, she looked
for her friend
and told her
everything that
happened:
— I am so sorry,
Gabriel. I had
no intention to
damage your
kite. Therefore,
I decided to
make one
especially for
you in order to
make you happy.
— Here it it,
Gabriel.
I hope you like
it! — she then
gave him the
kite.
He was very
happy to see it.
it had the shape
of a heart. He
then hugged
Margaret with
kindness and
said:
— Margaret, I
realise how
annoying I have
been with you.
That’s why I
also need to
apologise. From
today onwards,
everything will
be different.
— Friends?
— Friends! |
|
After a while,
Gabriel was
playing with his
new kite. He was
really happy
with it.
Margaret was
just watching
and pleased for
having solved
the problem.
Gabriel then
turned to
Margaret and
smiled:
— Well done. The
kite is great!
Do you want to
play with it?
