It is said that our confrere Guiomar Albanese, director of the Spiritist Centre Perseverança, from the paulista capital, once talked about the hardship that bring people to a Spirtist Centre, which the one that terrifies people the most is not the problem itself, but the reason of it.

Many get to Spiritism through pain, sufferings, distress, that sometimes seem unbearable until we find out why, an important fact so that resignation becomes more feasible.

Then we find, as we know it, the comforting facet of Spiritism, which has been introduced to Kardec, by the Superior Spirits who oriented the Compilation, as the confirmation about the promise made by Jesus, in which the Lord would send in His name to continue the work once started by the Gospel.

And this comforting aspect makes people more and more attached to the Spiritist Doctrine.

This was exactly what happened to Andréa Salgado, the carioca teacher who, at 33 years old, had her legs cut off some time ago, when a boat collided with her banana boat in one of the beaches of the fluminense shore.

Andréa, who surprised everybody with her will power and optimism towards the situation, saw her life making a complete turnaround, but she never lost her temper and enthusiasm for life.

On an interview she gave to Veja, the journalist asked her what she did to keep sadness away and Andréa answered: “I have always enjoyed living. I am happy, extroverted and industrious, I have always been. The accident left me with some limitations. But I am getting to grips with them and going well. I like reading, take care of my children, my house. It entertains me. I have been reading Kardec, books that convey optimistic messages. I am Catholic, but after the accident I found many answers in Spiritism". "I have learned that nothing happens by chance.”
