Jujub lived in a
big forest and
was growing up
strong and wise.
His mother, Mrs.
Lion, looked
after him with
kindness. She
bathed him,
combed his fur,
cut his nails
and fed him.
She was very
caring, and
defended him
against the
dangers from the
forest. She
never allowed
him to stay away
from their
house.
Jujub, who was
growing up
alone, missed
having friends
to play with.
One day Jujub
decided to get
away from home
to find a
friend. He
decided to get
|
into the
woods,
and
ended up
going
far away
from his
home. He
then saw
a
rabbit: |
– Hi, Mr.
Rabbit! Would
you like to be
my friend?
The bunny got
scared and
screamed. He ran
into the bushes
and said:
– A lion!
|
|
Jujub didn’t
understand the
bunny’s
attitude, but
didn’t give up.
He then saw a
deer eating
peacefully. The
lion approached
him and said: |
|
– Hi! Would you
like to be my
friend?
The poor deer
disappeared into
the woods
screaming:
– Please, run
away! A lion! A
lion!
Jujub felt sad,
but didn’t give
up. He kept
walking and
searching for a
friend. He then
looked up and
saw a monkey in
a tree.
|
– Would you like
to play with me?
– Jujub asked. |
The monkey ran
away, jumping
from branch to
branch. The poor
little lion
started to cry.
Some animals
heard him crying
and approached
him. They felt
sorry for him.
|
– Why are you
crying? – A big
frog asked.
– Are you
talking to me? –
The lion
couldn’t believe
someone was
talking to him.
– Yes, that’s
right! What
happened?
Jujub then said:
|
– I left home to
search for a
friend, but no
one likes me... |
He the started
to cry
again....
The frog,
hearing the
lion, looked at
the other
animals. They
all felt
embarrassed.
– Don’t you feel
ashamed of
yourselves? For
being afraid of
a little cub? —
The frog asked
them.
The bunny said,
shaking:
– Is this all
you want? Will
you not attack
us later on?
– No! Why would
I want to attack
you? I want us
to be friends,
and play with
me. I feel so
lonely!
The animals then
realised Jujub
were a delicate
and gentile
lion. He was
incapable of
hurting anyone.
They then said
to him:
– Please forgive
us. We misjudged
you. We barely
know you. We
would like to
get to know you,
be your friends,
Jujub. Please
count on us.
The lion thanked
everyone and
looked around
worried.
– What now? I
don’t know how
to go back home!
The animals
calmed him down:
– Don’t worry.
We will take you
home.
Jujub went back
home with the
other animals.
From this day,
they all became
good friends and
played together
all the time.
The animals from
the forest
understood they
should not judge
anyone by its
appearance,
without knowing
them first. We
are all
brothers, sons
from the same
Father. He
created us so we
could live happy
and peacefully,
if we have good
will.
