have commented
on mediumistic
messages which

Spirits who in

Brazil, and
Victor Hugo, in
France). Now let
us deal with
writers who won
the Nobel Prize
for Literature
and, therefore,
very much
changes position
of the
situation.

The story
writer, poet and
moralist Swedish
Selma Lagerlöf
(1858-1940) had
a remarkable
intuition of
child psychology
and was deeply
rooted in the
legends and
traditions of
her land. First
woman to win the
Nobel Prize for
Literature in
1909, besides
some novels she
wrote many short
stories,
generally all on
Nordic and
Christians
subjects.
Specifically in
the area of
short stories,
which made her
most famous, she
wrote many
legends such as
The Tale of a
Manor, Gösta
Berling’s Saga,
The

Through the
medium Divaldo
Franco, Selma
Lagerlöf also
dictated
legends, which
were tales
entitled The
Legend of
Miracles of Love
and The Legend
of the Safe
Hide. It is
interesting to
highlight
peculiarities
which are
important for
this literary
study:
a. Selma
Lagerlöf kept in
Spirit a feature
that she had in
life, which was
writing short
stories in the
form of legends.
b. The tales of
Selma Lagerlöf
which Divaldo
automatically
wrote, were made
up of ten or
more pages, as
was found with
number of pages
that Selma
Lagerlöf’s
tales had in
life.
c. The stories
dictated by the
Spirit of Selma
Lagerlöf to
Divaldo were
focused on child
psychology, as
also occurred in
his work as a
writer.
d. The
mediumistic
tales of this
Spirit relate to
Christian
themes, as
happened several
times in her
works as a
writer.
e. In the
mediumistic work
The Legend of
Miracles of
Love, a very
important detail
is that one of
the characters
is a troll, or
goblin, which is
an
anthropomorphic
creature of
Scandinavian
folklore.
The Troll is a
totally unknown
figure to
Brazilian
folklore. Ms.
Solveig
Nordström, who
for some years
was the
translator of
Divaldo’s
lectures in
Scandinavia,
translated this
tale into
Swedish and said
that the legend
automatically
wrote by Divaldo
is completely in
the style of
Selma Lagerlöf.
In a few lines,
the Spirit
externalizes its
faith in the
power of the
goodness of
love. The action
takes place in
an authentic
Swedish
landscape with
typical
vegetation:
lime, rowan and
birch. These are
important
details that
cannot be
ignored.
We appealed to
the friend
Cidinha
Bergmann, wife
of Mr. Oloff,
who lives in
Stockholm, in
Sweden, who
sought the
journalist Alf
Folmer, who met
Selma Lagerlöff
personally and,
similarly, had
the opportunity
to hear a
lecture by the
medium Divaldo
in Sweden few
years ago and
got to know the
small book -
that is, the
legend -
automatically
written by
Divaldo from the
Spirit Selma.
An important
statement about
the automatic
written short
story
Mr. Folmer
kindly made an
important
testimony, which
must be recorded
in the annals of
history of
mediumistic
literature.

Divaldo and
Selma Lagerlöf
I myself met
Selma Lagerlöf
when I was a
boy. She used to
gather the
children around
herself to tell
them stories.
Stories of elves
and human
beings. The
story of the elf
from Åsberg, who
lived in the
nearest mountain
and wanted to be
with people, but
he had a fall on
the mountain. I
even made a
great abstract
sculpture of the
elf.
When Divaldo was
in Stockholm on
12th June 1994,
Selma Lagerlöf
(Spirit)
appeared to tell
a new story of
'troll' (Elf).
Divaldo
automatically
wrote it. It was
Selma who led
the pencil and
the hand of
Divaldo, and it
resulted in a
story of an elf
that wanted to
be among human
beings, but was
constantly
shooed away. But
the elf came
back to play
with a boy who
was always sad.
The boy became
happy, danced
and he and the
elf became good
friends. The boy
began to be
content that he
danced and was
happy. The elf's
face now
transformed into
a face of a
handsome young
man.
The above
message from
Selma Lagerlöf’
resulted in
Legend of
Miracles of
Love. This short
story is
entirely in the
writing style of
Selma Lagerlöf.
