Once upon a
time, there was
a little bear
called Baby who
lived with his
mom Ursule and
his dad Ursony
in a beautiful
forest.
Baby was a had a
very bad habit:
he eat too
much.
He would eat
everything that
he could get
hold off. He
never seemed to
feel satisfied.
Je was also very
selfish; he
never shared
anything with
anyone.
When he saw
someone chewing
something, he
would ask for a
bite. But when
one of Baby’s
|
 |
friends
asked
for a
bite of whatr he was
eating, he would
never give it to
anyone! |
One day, Baby
found a piece of
cake someone
left in the
middle of the
forest. One
little rabbit
saw it and asked
for a piece of
the cake, but
the little bear
refused.
His mom Ursule
reprehended him,
saying:
— Baby, my son,
this is very
bad! You should
not eat so much.
One day you will
fall sick. We
should learn to
share our
things. Please
give a piece of
this cake to
your friend
rabbit.
— No, no, no! —
he repeated — I
want to eat it
alone. The cake
is mine!
One day Ursule
heard some
screams. It was
Baby crying! He
was holding his
tummy with his
paws.
— What happened,
Baby? — his mom
asked,
afflicted.
— I don’t know!
I feel so much
pain in my
tummy. I think I
am going to die!
Help! Help! —
Baby screamed.
Ursule asked:
— What did you
eat today,
Baby?
— I have only
eaten some
fruit...
He cried really
loudly, as he
was in such
pain.
Ursule grabbed
his littly son
and went out to
find help. She
soon met the owl
who is the
wisest animal in
the forest.
 |
— What is going
on? What’s the
problem? — the
owl asked.
— Oh! Dear Owl!
Please help. My
son is very sick
and I don’t know
what to do!
Please help me!
I beg you!
The Owl taught
and said:
— I know a bit
about medicine.
Please place the
boy under the
bench of the
tree.
His mom obeyed
him. The Owl
then started to
examine
|
her
patient.
|
|
— We have
operate him,
without a
doubt.
— Operate?
— Yes, there is
no alternative.
But don’t worry.
Everything will
be ok. I will
look for my bad
and will be
right back.
Few minutes
later, the Owl
came back with
all the
necessary
instruments to
operate the
little bear.
She then
prepared herself
for the
operation and
opened the tummy
of the little
bear. She was
soon quite
surprised to see
what was in
there:
— My God! There
is so much in
here!
The Owl then
started to
remove
everything that
was inside
Baby’s tummy:
several frits,
roots, herbs,
two fishes...
— Even an old
can, Baby? — she
then said to
Baby.
She then stiched
him carefully.
Later on that
day, Baby was
feeling much
better.
— How are you
feeling, my son?
— Ursule asked
him, as soon as
he was awake.
— I am ok, mom.
I just feel a
bit empty!
Ursule then
thanked the owl.
She immediately
said to her
son:
— If it wasn’t
for Mrs. Owl,
you could have
died son. You
need to learn
once and for all
that eating too
much is not good
for you. We must
learn to share
what is ours.
What is
considered as a
waist from our
food could feed
other animals.
Did you know
there are others
who are
starving? You
eat so much, but
there are others
who don’t eat
anything. You
need to help
yourself and
others by
sharing what you
have. You will
not only help
other creatures,
but also
practicing
fraternity and
charity. On top
of that, you
will benefiting
yourself, since
eating in excess
is not good for
you.
Baby looked at
her and agreed
with what she
said. She then
added:
— We should eat
to live, my son;
not live to eat.
Do you
understand me?
— I got it, mom.
I won’t eat so
much from now
on.
From that day
onwards, Baby
would always
share everything
with his friends
from the
forest.
