Stella was a
teacher who
worked at school
which was
located in her
neighbourhood.
She usually
started her
working day
after lunch
time. She had to
hurry up to get
all the house
duties done
before leaving
the house. Today
she was running
around, feeling
quite time
pressured.
She was
preparing lunch
in the kitchen,
cleaning the
house and
placing
everything in
the right order.
Right at this
morning, her
daughter Carla
came closer to
her. The little
girl was five
years old:
— Mom, can we go
for a walk?
— I can’t do it
now, my dear.
The little girl
started to cry
and demanded:
— But I want to
go out! I want
to! I want to!
Her mom was
really busy and
answered quite
angry:
— You are very
misbehaved. You
don’t deserve to
go for a walk.
Go and play,
Carla. Let me do
my work.
Otherwise, you
will be
grounded!
The girl
listened to her
mom feeling
quite scared and
obeyed her. She
looked down and
decided to go to
her room as she
was feeling
quite sad.
Some time later,
Stella decided
to pass by her
daughter’s room
to see what she
was up to. She
then saw Carla
sitting down on
the floor. She
was holding her
favouring doll.
She was saying
to the toy, with
an angry voice:
 |
— You are a very
evil girl, are
you hearing me?
You have a very
bad girl. Mommy
doesn’t like
you. You don’t
deserve to go
for a walk.
It was at this
moment that
Stella realised
the impact her
behaviour had on
her daughter.
She understood
the little girl
was transferring
the way she was
treated by her
mom to the doll.
|
Stella decided
to walk into the
room and come
closer to her
child. She
grabbed her in
the arms and
asked her to
stand up with
kindness.
— My dear, mommy
loves you very,
very much. You
are a very good
girl; very kind
and sweet. I am
sorry for the
things I said to
you. Sometimes
adults have a
lot of work to
do; that’s why
we don’t know
what we say
really at these
occasions...
Mommy would love
to go for a walk
with you. I
would love to go
but I can’t
unfortunately.
Do you
understand, my
dear?
Carla listened
carefully to her
mom and then
answered:
— I got it, mom.
— Great. When I
come back from
work, we will go
for a walk. We
can even get a
chocolate
ice-cream. I
know you like it
very much. How
about that?
The little girl
clapped with
excitement and
said:
— That’s great,
mommy!
|
 |
Her mom opened
her arms and
said: |
— Great, give me
a big hug.
The child came
closer to her
mom and smiled.
— Mom, Mother’s
day is coming
closer. You are
the one who
needs to get a
present but the
best present was
mine: to have
you as my mom!
Stella was so
proud and happy
for having the
love of her
daughter. She
never wanted to
miss that.
