A chat with the medium Marco
Antônio Maiuri Miranda
This week’s editorial,
The lessons we keep from the
case of Amy Winehouse,
focuses on the untimely
death of singer Amy
Winehouse, who, according to
press reports, seems to add
to the list of artists whose
use of alcohol and other
drugs led to an early
departure to another world.
Among the highlights of this
edition, we present the
interview conducted by Érika
Silveira with the medium and
speaker Marco Antônio Maiuri
Miranda, who last May
released the book "The Love
Medication", a work dictated
by the Spirit José Carlos do
Patrocínio.
In this book, José do
Patrocínio, poet and one of
the leading figures of the
abolitionist movement in the
country, recounts his
experiences in the spiritual
world and the important work
of helping the spirits in
recovery who were involved
with slavery. The
autobiographical novel takes
as its starting point Brazil
at the time of slavery and
also focuses on the period
that followed the abolition
of slavery in our country.
Another feature of this
edition is the special
article written by the
colleague Gebaldo José de
Sousa on the subject of
suicide. In the article, the
author points out that the
spirits of suicides are
unanimous in declaring the
intensity of suffering that
suicide brought them, thus
highlighting the importance
of avoiding this route of
escape from life's problems,
because in addition to
persisting, they end up
growing and creating even
more unfortunate
consequences for the future.
This month marks the 83th
birthday of our colleague
Janet Duncan, a pioneer in
the dissemination of
Spiritism in the UK, and the
subject of the timely report
by Claudia Werdine which is
also one of the features of
this edition.
