The Surprise
|
Dan really
wanted to
surprise his
mother.
There were still
many months
until Mother's
Day, but Daniel
was already
thinking what
gift he could
give to his
mother.
He had no money
to buy something
expensive in a
store like many
of his
classmates did.
Furthermore, his
mother always
scolded him,
saying he was
lazy and did not
like doing
anything, that
he never put
away his toys,
did not put his
backpack in the
right place
after returning
home from school
and that when
getting changed
he always left
his clothes
scattered on the
bedroom's floor.
So, he wanted to
prove to her
that he could be
different and
deserve her
love. Thus, he
wanted to give
something that
represented his
effort, good
will and
work. He wanted
his mother to be
proud of him!
He thought
... thought
... and decided.
He arrived home
after class and
asked his
father:
- Dad, can I
wash the car? I
am in need of
some coins.
- Sure, Dan. If
you wash the car
I will give you
some coins. But
why do you want
money, son?
The boy looked
around to see if
they were alone,
and said
quietly:
- Can't tell you
yet, Dad. It's a
secret!
- Ah! ...
In the
afternoon, after
his father
returned from
work, Dan put on
some old
clothes, grabbed
a bucket, the
hose and went to
wash the car.
The mother was
surprised. Dan
working?
When the boy
finished, his
father gave him
three coins.
|
 |
- Thanks, Dad.
Cool! |
|
The next day,
returning from
school, Daniel
went into a shop
and bought a
packet of seeds.
He got home,
left his
backpack and ran
into the
yard. He grabbed
a shovel, mixed
the land,
fluffed it, as
he had seen his
mother do so
many times, and
then threw in
the seeds he had
purchased.
 |
The mother
noticed the
child's
movements, but
said
nothing. Then
she saw Dan get
a watering can
and water the
soil.
- What are you
doing, son?
- I'm planting
some seeds, Mom.
From that day
on, every
morning before
leaving for
school, and also
in the evening,
Dan watered the
seeds.
|
His mother
started to help
him in this
task. When the
first leaves
appeared, it was
a great joy for
Dan. |
It was the first
time he saw the
result of a job.
Some time later,
the plants had
grown and the
first flowers
began to grow,
beautiful and
colourful.
On Mother's Day,
Dan got up
early, got
dressed, combed
his hair and
cleaned up the
room. Then he
went into the
kitchen and set
the table, made
some juice and
got everything
ready. Then he
ran to the
backyard.
His mother had
not woken up yet.
Thank goodness!
Soon, he heard
noise in the
kitchen, and
realized that
his mother had
already gotten
up. Then he
opened the door
and, with a
large bouquet of
flowers in his
arms, he said:
- Happy Mother's
Day!
The mother,
barely able to
believe it,
picked up the
flowers, full of
joy.
- My son! I'm
very proud of
you. You made an
effort for
months, took
care of the
seedlings,
watered them,
all to make me a
surprise! And
even set the
table for
breakfast!
|
 |
- That's right,
Mom. I wanted to
prove that I can
work like other
people. And you
know what? I am
very pleased to
have achieved
it. |
Seeing the seeds
sprout, the
plants grow and
then become
these beautiful
flowers gave me
a good
feeling. I
proved to myself
that I am
capable!
Full of emotion,
his mother
opened her arms
and Daniel ran
to her,
snuggling into
her embrace.
- Happy Mother's
Day, Mom!
- Thank you,
son. This was
the most
beautiful gift
I've ever
received in my
entire life! ...
