Daisy was a girl
who loved to
help people. She
did not miss an
opportunity to
be helpful. She
had a generous
heart and
everyone liked
her.
 |
One day she
learned that her
friend, Myro,
was ill and
would not be
able to go to
school for many
days. He had
measles, a
contagious
disease, and
because of it he
would have to
stay in bed,
isolated.
Worried about
her friend,
Daisy
immediately
thought of a way
to help him.
- What can I do
for him? I can
not see him. Not
|
even
bring
him
sweets
and
pastries,
because
I do not
know
what he
can eat. |
She thought hard
and the next
day, woke up
with the answer
to her problem:
I know it! I
will take notes,
in all lessons,
of what the
teachers teach
us in class and
then at home,
make a copy for
Myro.
Thus he can
study, even
without leaving
home! What a
great idea! ...
So, to reassure
him, Daisy
called to
inquire how he
was doing, and
told his mother
all about what
she was going to
do to help Myro.
Grateful, the
mother told the
child what his
classmate was
proposing to do
so he could keep
studying, even
without going to
school. Later on
she commented:
- Your friend
Daisy must be a
very special
person, my son!
I was touched by
her kindness.
- She is really
great, Mom.
|
 |
Myro, however,
who did not
really like
studying much,
thought to
himself: I
thought I'd be
free of books
during these
days! Now, I
will have to
study! |
From the next
day on, in the
afternoon, Daisy
would go to
Myro's home and
hand all the
material that
she had copied
to his mother.
- Thank you,
Daisy! But you
are going
through a lot of
work to copy
everything in
order to bring
it to my son!
The girl smiled
brightly, and
responded:
- Do not worry,
dona1 Eunice.
After all, I am
studying twice
as much and this
can only help me
on tests.
Every day that
Daisy brought
her texts, dona
Eunice took the
opportunity to
talk to her,
inviting her to
have a snack,
impressed with
her perseverance
and
determination.
After a week,
Myro was much
better and could
go back to
school.
That day, the
girl returned
home upset.
Noting her
grief, her
mother asked
what had
happened, and
Daisy said:
- Mom, you know
how I tried to
help Myro during
his illness,
don't you?
- Of course, my
dear! You did
not have time
for anything
else! But it was
worth it!
The girl thought
for a moment and
said:
- I do not know
if it was worth
it, Mom. Can you
believe that
Myro did not
even thank me?
...
The mother
looked at her
daughter, who
had her eyes
full of tears,
embraced her
with great
affection and
asked:
- Why does it
bother you so
much, Daisy?
- I expected at
least a "thank
you" from him,
Mom.
- Ah! But did
you do it to
receive a
reward? - asked
the mother.
- No, but ...
The lady stared
at the girl and
asked:
- After all,
would you like a
thank you from
Myro or God?
The girl's eyes
widened:
- What do you
mean, Mom?! ...
- See, my dear,
if Myro says
thank you,
you've got what
you wanted. If
he does not
acknowledge you,
the reward will
come from God.
What would you
prefer?
The girl thought
for a moment,
then replied
with a smile:
- I prefer that
of God, of
course!
- You chose
well, my
daughter.
Furthermore, we
will never know
the effect of
your gesture to
Myro. Later on,
even many years
from now, he
will think again
about it,
remember
everything that
happened and
regret his
ingratitude.
- You're right,
Mom. After all,
what really
matters is that
I loved being
useful. And I
will continue to
do what I think
is right, even
if people do not
recognize it.
This is what
Jesus expects of
us!

The mother
agreed, hugging
her daughter
with more love,
grateful to God
for being able
to help her.
