The spiritist press
controversy

Several
conclusions can be drawn from a fact or any one teaching, which it means that in a weekly magazine like this, the multiplicity of ideas should be the object of applause, not censure.

Different views about the same subject can only contribute to the formation of a strong thinking in terms of spirit doctrine. And this plurality of ideas, nobody doubts that the chaff - if any appears soon, especially when the publication maintains a permanent channel with its readers and takes to the public its comments or criticisms.

We’ve returned to this subject because we have came, sometimes manifestations of magazine’s readers who do not understand why in certain issue was allowed the placement of this or that matter that would, according to the same people, be odd with the purposes of this journal.

In the face of such events, we consider appropriate to recall here a passage from the Letter to the reader which opened the issue n. 1 of this magazine, published on April 18, 2007.

Here it is:

"Exposed the reasons, let's talk about our proposals and our commitment.

The magazine
will always seek to disclose what has been called in Brazil the SGE - Spiritism, Gospel and Esperanto, (three EEE -
Espiritismo, Evangelho e Esperanto), without never
get away from the constructive controversy, little present in the spirit Brazilian press, whose leaders often ignore the example and lesson gave by Kardec, who said there was a kind of controversy that will never back down: a serious discussion of spiritist principles." (This is the link that allows access to the transcribed text:

The magazine O Consolador (The Comforter) has not been created to merely publish mediumistic messages, which already fulfill, in considerable numbers, the production of spirit publishers.

A serious discussion of issues relate to Spiritism, behold one of its main purposes, and that's exactly why we open space to various employees, based in different locations in this country, whose participation gives life to the pages of our journal, and enrich them, even if this or that opinion we do not like.

We also understand what it is appropriate to remember here - as stated in the Letter to the reader of the last edition - that the materials and signed articles published in our journal do not necessarily represent the opinion of the direction of this journal, which it is lawful to the reader neither agrees or not with the view or the reasoning used in this or that matter. In there is a disagreement, this magazine gives the individual's right to publish their criticism on the next issue, as our readers can give the view of the content of messages that have been published weekly in the Letters section.

A
constructive debate does not descend to the offense or aggression, since it based on facts, works or authors of proven good reputation, it will always be welcome, although it is so rare in the spiritist press that many consider it inconceivable in a magazine like
O Consolador (The Comforter).
