Once upon a
time, in the
clearing of a
forest, the
animals gathered
to discuss a
very important
matter.
With Mother's
Day approaching,
they wanted to
somehow honor
those creatures
that gave them
life.
They decided to
choose, among
all mothers, one
that synthesized
the Greater Love.
They would throw
a beautiful
party in the
middle of the
clearing in the
forest, and on
Mother's Day,
choose the "Best
Mother in the
World".
For this, they
decided to
invite all the
animals in the
forest. They
sent a messenger,
Mrs.
Swallow, who
should convey
the invitation
to all. At first
they were afraid
to invite the
Jaguar, which
was very fierce,
but then
concluded that
if they would
choose the best
mother in the
world, no one
could be left
out.
There was a
hubbub in the
forest. The
animals, very
excitedly,
prepared
themselves
|
 |
carefully for
the party. |
|
Then the big day
arrived. The
animals decently
ornamented the
clearing,
decorating the
tree trunks with
flowers artfully
intertwined. A
Wonder!
Each pup showed
up with their
proud mother.
They were all
clean... hairs
washed and
brushed,
feathers combed,
beaks buffed,
nails trimmed
and polished,
and claws
sharpened.

The parrot, the
most talkative
creature, would
be the host of
the party.
All were present
except for the
Sloth, which
could never be
punctual. Even
Mrs. Turtle with
her little baby
had already
arrived, because
presciently,
they had left
hours before
from their lair.
 |
And the most
anticipated
moment of the
party came.
Whoever won the
contest, would
get a beautiful
and huge bunch
of bananas as a
gift, a donation
by the Monkey.
The Parrot asked
everyone to
choose the Best
Mother of the
World, among all
mothers in
attendance; the
one who was
considered to be
the kindest,
most dedicated,
most intelligent
and loving
mother.
At a signal from
the host, the
animals should
indicate their
preference. |
There was
general silence.
Even the more
talkative fell
silent. When the
parrot gave the
signal - oh,
surprise! - they
all pointed at
their own mother!
There was an
uproar. No one
agreed with each
other.
- My mom is the
best! - said the
bunny while he
hopped.
- No! Mine is! -
replied the
monkey, from his
branch.
- No way! - The
frog screamed
hoarsely – Mine
is!
- No, no and no!
- said the
leopard
sharpening her
claws. - I'm
sure no mother
is more
dedicated than
mine, and what's
more, she is the
strongest! ...
Confusion set up
and the
nonconformist
animals were
preparing for a
fight, when Mrs.
Owl, taking the
word, shushed
everyone.
- My friends and
brothers! You
are all right.
It is very
pretentious of
us to want to
choose the Best
Mother of the
World, because
she is,
undoubtedly,
always beside
each one of us.
All mothers
present also
deserve our
respect and our
consideration,
because they are
equally
dedicated,
loving,
intelligent and
kind to each of
their offspring.
She paused to
assess the
effect of her
words on the
audience, and
continued:
- Finally, I
propose that all
mothers here
receive the
title of Best
Mother in the
World!
The animals
looked at each
other and then
agreed with the
Owl, cheering:
- Hurrah! Hurrah!
Very well! Viva
the Mothers!
Viva the Owl!
The monkey,
hanging from a
branch and
scratching his
head, said:
- That's all
very right. But
what about the
gift I donated?
The owl did not
hesitate to
answer:
- We'll share
with all who are
here and have a
big party!
It is said that
the animals,
very happy and
excited, shared
the bunch of
bananas and
danced until
dawn to the
sound of the
Orchestra of
Robins.
