A Meeting In The
Park
|
It was Saturday
and Charlie did
not have to go
to school. The
day was
beautiful and
the sun was
shining in the
blue sky.
|
Mathias, Charlie's
father, invited
his son to a
walk in a
beautiful park
in their town.
The boy loved
the idea! It was
rare that his
father, always
very busy, would
go out with him.
They got dressed
appropriately
and went
roller-blading.
In the park,
they found out
that many people
had had the same
idea. Some
jogged while
others were
exercising;
others were
skateboarding
and many were
strolling, all
happy. |
Charlie and his
father began to
walk, looking at
the beautiful
trees, the birds
singing in the
high branches
and they admired
the beautiful
flowers and
ducks by the
lake.
Right then,
Charlie saw his
friend Eric, who
came towards
them on a
scooter, and
called him:
- Eric! I am
glad to see you
here! ...
The boy smiled
and now closer,
said:
- Hi, Charlie!
We had the same
idea, didn't we?
I asked my
father to bring
me here because
I love this park
and he can
almost never
come with me. |
|
The adults shook
hands and began
to talk. Gerald,
Eric's father,
had a long face
and did not feel
like chatting,
but began to
complain:
- Oh well. Today
Eric dragged me
here and I had
to come. I'm not
in the mood to
walk, I have a
lot of problems
to solve, my
head is full...
Charlie's father
noticed Gerald
did not look
well, put his
hand on his
shoulder and
said:
- Do not worry,
Gerald, trust in
God! With the
help of Our
Father, there is
nothing we
cannot solve.
Have faith, my
friend!
Upon hearing
those words,
Gerald was even
angrier:
- Now, Mathias!
What I have to
solve is up to
me only.
Incidentally, I
do not believe
in God, the
afterlife,
reincarnation,
nothing.
- Ah! So to whom
do you suppose
we owe the gift
of life?
Everything fits
in creation,
from the largest
to the smallest
of things, like
planets,
constellations,
galaxies, the
entire universe.
Who, then,
created all this?
What mighty mind
has given us the
gift of life?!
... - asked
Mathias.
The boys, noting
the seriousness
of the
conversation,
began to listen
to it,
interested in
the adults'
dialogue. Eric
was concerned;
he knew how his
father got when
upset.
Gerald blushed
as he heard
Mathias'
considerations:
- Nature, which
is perfect! I do
not believe
anything you
said. All this
is nonsense.
At this point,
Eric tugged at
his father's
pants who
frowned and
looked at his
son.
- Dad, how can
you say that?
"I" believe! Do
you remember
that when I was
younger I told
you about my
memories of
another life?
While his father
dropped his jaw,
embarrassed,
Eric told
Mathias and
Charlie:
- When I was
only three
years-old, I
would tell them
how I "knew" I
had lived before.
I remembered
that I was my
father's
grandfather and
asked my parents
that they would
never let me
drink when I
grew up as I was
reborn to
overcome my
alcohol
addiction.
Remember, daddy?
At that moment,
surprised,
Gerald replied:
- I remember you
saying this
nonsense, but I
never believed
you, son.
- But it's true.
I even remember
that when I was
still Armand
Garcia, your
grandfather, and
you, my little
grandson, I took
you with me to a
mountain. When
we were up there,
looking at the
landscape that
laid ahead of us
down there, I
told you:
- Gerry, my
grandson, I want
to quit drinking
but I cannot.
But I will ask
God to come back
and change my
behavior. I will
also ask for you
to be my father
and I want you
to help me be
someone more
responsible and
useful to my
neighbor. - And
you swore you
would help me.
So I gave you a
medal with the
image of Jesus
and asked you
not to show
anyone. Remember?
From blushed,
Gerald turned
white with that
surprise. With
his eyes moist,
he confirmed:
- It is true,
son! I remember
that day and the
request of my
grandfather,
which I acceded.
At that time he
gave me a medal,
which I never
showed anyone; I
have kept it in
a secret place,
as he asked me.
Now I understand
my grandfather's
reason why! As I
am not a
believer, he
knew that one
day that medal
could perhaps
make me believe
again. |
|
- That's right,
dad. The medal
is in grandpa's
old desk and has
a false bottom
where you hid
it.
Again surprised
and with
goosebumps,
Gerald hugged
his son,
agreeing:
- It is true,
son. Nobody ever
knew about this
cache! Also, we
have never
commented about
my grandfather's
addiction in
front of you.
Now I believe in
God, for only He
could give me a
lesson like this.
Thank you, son.
Then, turning to
Matthew and
Charlie, he
smiled:
- This meeting
was providential.
I understand now
that nothing
happens by
chance. In all
there is the
hand of God, the
Creator of the
Universe ... or
whatever name
you give it.
Mathias and
Charlie, thank
you for being
here today and
allowing me to
receive this
great lesson.
Charlie and
Matthias were
also thrilled
and the father
replied:
- We are the
ones, Gerald,
thankful for the
opportunity to
be here.
Undoubtedly,
this meeting was
scheduled so
that your eyes
would open to
the light!
- Now, I confess
that I am very
interested to
know where you
get all this
important
information!
- It is in the
Gospel of Jesus.
But it will be a
pleasure if you
would like to
accompany us to
a Spiritist
Center. There
you can listen
to uplifting
lectures and get
further guidance
through courses
that will help
you better
understand the
Divine Laws.
And right there they agreed to
meet during the
week to go to
the Spiritist
Center.
