Friends Forever
|
Carlos loved to
visit his aunt
Anna, his mother's
sister. He felt
a special
affection for
his five
year-old cousin
Victor.
Being eight
years old and
feeling much
older than his
cousin, Carlos
had a
satisfaction in
playing with Vic,
as he called him.
However, the
boy, despite the
attention he
received from
Carlos, treated
him badly,
fought with him,
would not let
him play with
his toys and,
when very angry,
would even sent
Carlos away,
saying:
- You are bad! I
do not like you.
His aunt Ana,
seeing the child's
behaviour, would
hug and console
Carlos:
- Don't mind him,
Carlos! Victor
is not very well
today. He is
angry at
everything!
- Do not worry,
Aunt Ana, I
understand. I am
going home; Mom
must already
have lunch ready.
I will come back
another time...
- the boy would
say feeling
upset but
understanding.
He would not
usually comment
how Victor
treated him to
his mother. He
did not want to
make her sad,
because after
all he was her
sister's son.
That day,
however, Carlos
arrived at home
very sad. He sat
on the couch and,
with his head in
his hands, he
began to cry
feelingly.
His mother heard
the sound of the
door but seeing
no one went to
the living room.
She found her
son on the couch
crying a lot and
asked as she
hugged him:
- Carlos, honey,
what happened?
Why are you
crying like that?!...
Wiping his eyes,
he said:
- Mom, I do not
know why Victor
treats me so
badly! He says
I'm bad and he
does not like
me! But I have
never
done
anything
against
him; on
|
 |
the
contrary,
I like
him very
much and
always
try to
help him.
I give
him the
sweets
and
candies
that I
get, I'm
teaching
him to
play
ball, I
read
stories
to him!
I do not
know why
he
treats
me this
way, as
if I
were an
enemy!... |
The mother
pressed the boy
to her chest and,
wiping his eyes,
said:
- Carlos, dear,
we are all
spirits who have
already lived
many times, you
know. When these
things we cannot
explain happen,
it is a sign
that in the past,
in another life,
we have had
relationship
problems.
- What do you
mean, Mom? -
asked the boy as
his eyes widened.
- Suppose I have
wronged you in a
previous life.
You would not
trust me, right?
Now, finding me
again in this
life, you would
feel fear as if
you knew you
could not trust
me. Get it?
- Do you think,
Mom, that that
is how Victor
sees me?!...
- It would
appear so, honey.
The boy became
thoughtful, then
murmured:
- Oh... But I
like him so much,
Mom! I would
never do
anything against
him.
- I know,
darling. Surely
you have changed
your attitude,
repented for
what you have
done and started
to like him. And
both of you were
reborn in the
same family to
be able to meet,
now
strengthening
the bonds of
affection.
Carlos nodded,
showing he
understood, then
asked:
- Mom, what can
I do to get
Victor to learn
to trust me?
His mother
smiled and said:
- You want to
please him, show
him that you
really like him,
isn't it? So
take your time.
Continue to
assist him in
all you can, be
patient with him,
show him that
you like him and
above all, pray
for him, asking
Jesus to help
you two get
along well. All
this will pass,
honey. Trust in
God!
So the next day,
Carlos went
again to his
cousin's house,
treating him
with great
affection, and
he even brought
a game that
Victor really
liked and that
he had not yet
learned to play.
|
 |
- I brought you
my game, Vic. It
is a present!
And I will teach
you how to play
it. It's easy. |
The little boy
smiled and
opened the box,
delighted. He
knew it was a
toy for older
children and,
for that reason
he was so eager
to play with it,
as his cousin
Carlos did.
So they spent
all morning
playing and
having fun.
Before Carlos
left, Victor
said goodbye to
his cousin
thanking him:
- I loved that
you come to my
house, Carlos!
Thanks for the
game. Will you
come back
tomorrow?
- Of course! You
can count on it!
- said Carlos.
 |
The next day, he
came back and
brought another
surprise for
Victor: a small
tractor that his
cousin liked.
And so, day
after day, their
relationship was
improving.
One afternoon,
they went out
for a walk.
Carlos and Vic
came across a
group of boys
who were bullies.
One of them
pushed Carlos,
who fell and hit
his head on a
wall. |
- Help! They
hurt Carlos!...
Mom! Auntie!...
Run! - Victor
began screaming,
scared, seeing
his cousin on
the ground.
Hearing the
child's cries,
Ana came running
and soon Carlos'
mother appeared,
wondering what
had happened.
Seeing the two
mothers, the
gang fled.
Carlos' mother
knelt on the
ground, scared
to see her son
down and asked
if he was hurt.
- Do not worry,
Mom. I hit my
head on the wall,
but I'm fine now.
Victor, still
terrified, knelt
down and hugged
Carlos, glad to
see that he had
not hurt himself
seriously. His
head was
bleeding a
little though.
- Oh, Carlos,
thankfully it
was nothing. I
was very afraid
of those boys
and started
screaming. When
they saw my mom
and auntie they
left. Thank God!
And saying these
words, Victor
hugged his
cousin and said
in tears:
- I really like
you, Carlos. You
are the one I
trusted the most
besides Mom and
Dad!... Now we
will be friends
forever!
Carlos' mother
exchanged
glances with her
son and they
understood:
everything had
passed. Vic and
Carlos were now
real friends!...
