Love and instruct each other: who ignores these teachings?

It is well known to spirits the following recommendation we read in item 5 of Chapter VI in The Gospel According to Spiritism:

"Spirits! Love yourselves, this is the first precept; instruct yourselves, this is the second. In Christianity are all truths; it is man-made the errors that it has taken root in it." The Spirit of Truth. (Paris, 1860)

Emphasizing the importance of proper instruction, the author of similar proposal highlighted the need of loving ourselves.

Experience has shown how true is this warning; as if we really we sought to observe it, many problems affecting Spirit institutions would not exist.

The lack of love among us who call ourselves spirits liable for personal antagonisms, disputes of positions or role, the lack of brotherhood among people who know the gospel and know perfectly how it should be in the world the conduct of those who call themselves Christians.

The failure of instruction, not just education in the doctrinal field, but instruction in the general sense applicable to that word, explains the nonsense, fantasies, naive credulity that allows ideas and books devoid of common sense continue to be produced and sold on a large scale in spirit midst.

The need of loving and at the same time, pursuing instruction is not just about those who are reincarnated. It is a duty inherent in the Spirit in its path toward perfection, purpose for which we were created and that requires we build appropriate wings, as Emmanuel said in one of his works.

This is what the well-known spirit mentor wrote:

204 – Shall the human soul be raise to God solely with the moral progress without the intellective values?

The feeling and wisdom are the two wings with which the soul will rise to infinite perfection. In the cramped circle of the terrestrial globe, both are classified as moral advancement and intellectual advance, but, as we are examining the proper values of the world in particular, we must recognize that both are essential to progress, being fair, however, considering the superiority of the first on the second, because the intellectual part without morality can offer numerous fall prospects, repetition of the experiments, while the moral advancement will never be excessive, representing the most important core of evolutionary energies. It is with the purpose of assisting people in finding the proper instruction is that there are in spirit houses study groups, a kind of work that should deserve greater attention of all who are in charge of the direction of spirit institutions.

In study groups, it is good to know, that participates not only the reincarnated, because the disembodied, conscious of the need to hone intellectually, take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself to them.
