The idea that dead people
can come back to life was
part of the Jewish dogmas,
under the name of
resurrection. The Jews
believed that a person could
revive, without knowing
precisely how the fact
happens. They designated as
resurrection what Spiritism
denominates as
reincarnation. But there is
a fundamental difference
between resurrection and
reincarnation, as shown in
this week’s editorial,
entitled Reincarnation
and its purpose.
Donizete Aparecido Pinheiro
da Silveira, from Marília
(SP), editor of the
newspaper Ação Espírita
(Spiritist Action),
Spiritist speaker and author
of the books Respostas
Espíritas (Spiritist
Answers), Suave
Inspiração (Soft
Inspiration) and Terapia
da Paz (Peace Therapy),
talks about the Spiritist
Movement in his city and the
importance of the continuous
divulgation of the Spiritist
Doctrine. Conceded to the
editor Orson Peter Carrara,
the interview is one the
headlines in this issue.
Another headline in this
number is the special report
entitled
Palestine at the epoch of
Jesus,
written by the confrere
Leonardo Machado, from
Recife (PE). Palestine,
region where Jesus was born,
used to be the name given by
the Romans to the former
region of Philistine, named
by its own inhabitants and
which the Hebrews used to
call as Canaan.
In Niterói (RJ), the first
meeting of the AME Center –
Medical Spiritist
Association in Niterói -
took place under a happy
atmosphere, as shows the
report by Paulo Sérgio M.
Peixoto, which is also a
headline in the present
edition.

This week, precisely on
Wednesday 19th, an important
date has been celebrated in
the Spiritist circle: the
release, in 1936, of the
first Spiritist radio show
in Brazil, one more
initiative of Cairbar
Schutel.
The fact took place in
Araraquara (SP).
We have concluded this week
the study of the classic
work The Reason of Life
by Léon Denis, which has
been presented in 13 parts
by this magazine, based on
the 14th edition
published by the Spiritist
Brazilian Federation.
