Joe and Mark
were playing in
front of their
homes, as they
always did.
They were
classmates and
were always
together. They
would even go to
school and then
get back from
school together.
Their friendship
was known and
admired by all,
who comment on
how Mark and Joe
got along well,
with no fights
or arguments.
But that was
until the day
that for a silly
reason, they
were angry with
each other and
began to quarrel.
Joe shouted:
|
- That is so
you, Mark! You
always want to
be right about
everything!
To which Mark
replied:
- What do you
mean, Joe? I
have always let
you believe to
be the right,
even when I
thought I was
right!...
- Oh... Is that
how it is going
to be?! So I
will not speak
with you
anymore! - Joe
shouted, full of
|
anger. |
- If that's what
you want, I
accept your
decision - Mark
replied angrily.
Both went away,
each one taking
the direction of
his home.
However, they
were not happy.
After the anger
faded out, they
sadly missed
being together,
their games,
their rides, the
homework that
was done side by
side.
They wished it
had not happened
and that they
were still
friends as
before, but
pride would not
let them
recognize the
mistake they
made.
Until one day,
after a lot of
rain, the sun
appeared and Joe
decided to go
out for a walk.
Near his house
there was a
garden, and he
walked there. He
entertained
himself by
looking at the
beautiful plants
and flowers, the
trees with their
clean and shiny
leaves, when he
noticed someone
in front of him
walking towards
him. He turned
red: it was Mark!
Not knowing what
to do, they
stopped at a
distance, and
Joe shouted:
- Even here you
come to bother
me?
To which Mark
replied:
- No, Joe. It's
not my fault
that you have
also decided to
stroll through
the garden like
me, to enjoy the
sunny day!
Joe, with a
violent temper,
became even
angrier and,
wishing to get
back at Mark
somehow, looked
around and saw a
large puddle of
mud just ahead.
He had no doubt.
He bent down,
picked up a
handful of mud
and shot it at
him.
Noticing Joe's
intentions,
Mark's eyes
widened and he
shouted:
- No!...
However the mud
hit him in the
chest. Seeing
the damage that
Joe had done on
his clothes, now
all dirty, Mark
looked at him
and said:
- Joe, did you
not realize
that, wishing to
hit me, you are
the one who got
dirty first?
On hearing
Mark's words, he
looked at
himself. Not
only his hands
were dirty, but
also his
clothes.
Mark, who was
watching his
friend's
reaction, saw
that Joe was
displeased at
first, but then
started
laughing, amused
at how Mark was
dirty and him
too.
Mark also
laughed and
exchanging a
look they
realized that
that funny
moment changed
everything
between them.
They began to
throw mud at
each other until
they got tired.
Then they
approached each
other and
embraced, happy
to be together
again.
Joe, with his
face all muddy,
acknowledged:
- You're right,
Mark. To hit
you, I got dirty
first! I showed
that, in fact,
we are equal.
- That's right,
Joe. To
criticize
someone we need
to be different
from them. I'm
glad we resumed
our friendship.
I missed you so
much!
- Me too, my
friend Mark! May
we never fight
again. And if
that happens, we
can talk and
understand each
other, as the
friends that we
really are.
Thus, embracing
each other, they
both went home
walking and
laughing.
Their mothers,
who were at the
gate looking for
them, were
surprised by how
dirty the boys
were,
|
|
but happy
to see them
being friends
again. |
|
Everything would
be different
from that day
forward, for
that lesson was
never erased
from their
memories
throughout their
lives.
They understood
that the most
important thing
is always the
love we feel for
the dear people
who are part of
our lives!...
